Excellent video! It puts my mind at ease that the 'rules' aren't always cast in stone as to playing a tune. I can relax now and get on toward learning!

Lovely tutorial! The Glen of Aherlow was actually written by Seán Ryan the fiddle player from Tipperary who wrote the Castle Jig, the Reel of Rio and loads more.

@@IrishTenorBanjo And it is called Lafferty's (Favourite) because it was apparently a favourite of the piano player Bridie Lafferty who recorded it with Paddy Canny, PJ Hayes and Peadar O'Loughlin in 1959.

Great lesson. BTW the composer is a different Sean Ryan - a fiddler, long since passed away, who composed and published it and several other still-popular tunes back in the 1950's.

Tarbolton is village in Ayrshire, it is also the lodge that Burns frequented This tune originates form there and is originally a Scottish fiddle tune. Like so much in Scottish and Irish culture there is crossover which is to be celebrated. We are all sons of Dalriada. I you could do this tune next I would cuffed to bits it's one of my favourites. Many thanks. 👍😊

What a tune played they way u play it. I really love this tutorial and all the videos in general. I play down up down an wondered why tunes were more difficult to get flow into it feels alien to to change pattern. But my inefficient way of playing somtimes is annoying.
