One of the best songs ever on the violin. I never get tired of it. I am currently learning it. A huge hit from my youth.

Gave me such goosebumps, listening to you, wow. Violin is truly something else when you hear one in person, when you pick one up to play you gain an even greater appreciation for it.

This is the best video Ive seen on learning ‘the Gael’ . I cant read music but I saw that you’d put the g1 d20 on the score and now Im slowly getting there. I cant thankyou enough because I love this song and its a challenge I had to put aside a couple of years ago as I wasn’t getting anywhere. Really pleased and thankyou again.

Thanks Julia. After learning for a few years as a teen I have got back into violin. Im self teaching, 9 months in and have been a bit lost but i recalled your channel and the in depth lesson is exact;ly what I needed. Especially on things like following corrrect bowing. Cant wait to work through more of your lessons. If you ever come to NZ I hope we can meet :)

I play the guitar, not the fiddle, and I can't read sheet music but your instruction was clear enough for me to work out the key, chords and arpeggios with ease. Bravo! All of the guitarist instruction on this song I've seen is terrible or not what I'm looking for.

I can figure it out eventually and play along, but I'm confused about the numbers above the measure. Are those strings assignments? Some of the numbers a higher than the others. Sorry, I am missing something. The for your help, great lesson.
@Violinspiration2 ай бұрын
That's great! The number above is the finger you use to play on the string, I think this article will be helpful for you: violinspiration.com/violin-notes-for-beginners/#reading-the-fingering-above-the-notes

Hi Julia, this is such a great song and fantastic tutorial. What I am not sure about is the system behind the long rolls ans the pat. Do you add the adjacent notes of the scale of the song - in this case C major -or do you only go down respectively up half a step, for example from C to Cis instead of C to D, D being part of C major? Thank you for explaining again for dummies. 😊
@barbarafritz141710 ай бұрын
Thank you very much for your help and explanation, osezleviolon. But if this is D minor, why isn‘t there a b at the beginning of each line?

For some reason when I try my strings seem very off from sound is there a reason for that?
@Violinspiration9 ай бұрын
You might need to tune your stings to the correct pitch. This article can help you with that. Good luck! violinspiration.com/how-to-tune-a-violin-as-a-beginner/
@coomberaider8 ай бұрын
I think it is low 2 on the d string. Maybe not all of the d2s. Perhaps you could try that. Watch the fingering in the first slow section of the video.

@Violinspiration No it's not bad at all really. I just love this tune so thank you for arranging it. I like most genres of violin music but I think fiddling is my favourite.

Thanks. I’m trying to impress my wife. It’s either this or I start running through the woods in buckskins. My violin game is a 3 but my “running in buckskins” game is a very forgiving 2.

@@Violinspiration (glad I got you to laugh, these tutorials are very helpful. I’ll have to find the one where you talk about the “bow turn?” My teacher is calling them grace notes or I’m confusing the two. So much to learn!!!
