The pros also have a violin and a bow that together cost more than my car. And probably my first house.
@chrisquinones7970

But if you don't get the skills no matter how good and expensive they are, you'll never sound good. I have a cheap violin, like £400. First time I broke the E string. I couldn't get to make any sound or noise. Now after a few months my violin is sounding better and better
@cafiend
@cafiend 4 ай бұрын
@@chrisquinones7970 no argument there. A good student instrument supports you through a lot of progress, with sufficient tone and projection to encourage your efforts at refinement. But it appears from videos shared by performers like TwoSet Violin, Ray Chen, and others that a pro quality instrument costs tens of thousands and up. At the insanely expensive level, perhaps a lot of the appeal is intangible and emotional, but that aids a player who might be neurotic about instrument quality. Also, comparing the cost to my car and my house is based on the car being a beater and the house a tiny hovel. 😄

@@cafiend 😄I wish I can afford an expensive violin later when I can say or rather feel that I'm good playing...3-6 years from now. Maybe a £2000 violin. I will be happy with that. And If I get enough money for a house I'll use it for a house, not a violin, and definitely quite far from easily noise-annoyed neighbours!

You have a point there. The purpose of a very expensive Violin is to fill Concert Halls with it's sound over a tremendous Orchestra. You don't need that in your cosy home. Trust your ears and simply choose a Violin you like 🎻🤗

What she is doing is imitating exactly what the voice does when singing, the same slides in the note, the same appogiaturas. the violin is the instrument with more resemblance with the voice, technique-wise

I love what you said at the end. Violin doesn’t really sound like that in real life. Realizing just now, I am much more in love with the realistic, raw sound that sounds like self-made music from musical instruments instead of computers. Great video ❣️❣️

Thank you for these wonderful tips. I've tried to add some of them when playing a tune called "Ashroken Farewell." I transcribed the recording of it which has all those embellishments, and they add so much. I'm on our email list because I think you're a terrific, prolific teacher. Thanks again.
