Goodonya Sped. This was my cousin Malcolm's fav song. We lost him many years ago, way young driving too fast in bad conditions. He was one of my great mates, so full of life. Gotta learn this for him, thanks cobber, owe you a beer for this one! Thanks for all your lessons mate, you are the next best thing to a Shane Warne googly!

Damn son, why didn’t I find you earlier…?! My buddies and I grew up with the Zeppy albums, played them all loud and proud! The day they came we would go down to our local record store and each of us would buy one. We’d take back to one of our houses and put it on the turntable, crank up the volume, grab our guitars, turn the amps on and JAMM….! We tried to learn every single song…Sometimes we did….sometimes…well we tried hard. We all played by ear and none up of us had ever had a guitar lesson..I recently started playing again after about a 35 yr absence, you know, life, family, career etc, now retired and I can not get enough of this wonderful life changing music! I really loved your video, nice and clear and I will be keeping both eyes and ears on your channel…! Great job on one of my favorite Zeppy songs, that got us into a bit of trouble in our high school talent show in the early 70’s…a few of the more “mature” (ok, old like me now) teachers didn’t really dig the song..Oh well…! Keep on keeping on…👍✌️🎸‼️

I was also lucky enough to see them at Earls Court and Knebworth then as page/plant unleaded ruined my homework in the 70s from school but at least i know a bit about solos now and modes....im dyslexic both numerically and in writing but can solve a rubric cube in 30 seconds (its about your mind making up for other information you cant take in) so i dont know scales well not much i just see patterns works for me but you Sped are something else great channel massive thumbs up !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so glad i found your page ( no pun intended ) Dave Scott

I was at work listening to this through my ear buds and happened to take the right one out so I could hear my surroundings a bit better and hokey smokes! The rhythm guitar track through the guitar solo was in the left (lead guitar right) and Jimmy is going crazy on the rhythm guitar. I never realized how fast and furious it was because the lead is so much in the foreground. Thank you for another great video. Cheers!

Amazing, I got so much out of this. I realize how brave you have to be to do what you do for the world's legions of amatuer guitarists - opening yourself to the opinions, trolls, and criticism of the best of them. But you aniticipate where the slings and arrows might come from and dispense of them so adeptly, and I for one am grateful, because I am one of those people that 'learned it in high school' like a gazillion years ago and yet only knew the crude imitation version, it seems, until I picked up the many nuances here from you. One thing I'd add to your discussion, if you might, is a bit more of a view on how you get the many tones you've achieved here - it sounds like the tone Page achieved on the album. Maybe you're explanation of having the wah cocked off the treble a bit and the tone knob down covers it, along with the touch one applies. But yeah, I'd love insights into how you do it. Thanks for posting this, I got a ton out of this in just an hour.

I try my best! Yeah there's some nice B&W photos of him in the studio with a LP and an acoustic. When I see those photos and read the little stories about playing with positions of a way pedal to get the right tone, I can smell the money! Haha. Must be amazing to be given the time to tone search in a place like that. Probably spent about 3 hours dialling in that tone before they even started on the kick drum. What a time to be alive in music.

Excellent, this is such a cool song. I really dig the tone you get. Incidentally, I was watching this with my daughter in the room (she was not watching, only heard you) and she said “why is the cat from the Willoughby’s talking in this video”. The Willoughby’s is an animated movie where a cat is voiced by Ricky Grevais. I always thought you had a Ricky Gervais vibe, so I guess this proves it 😊🎸👍🏼.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I absolutely love Ricky Gervais. Went to see him live in Manchester this year. That’s so funny, I’m not familiar with the movie but it made me laugh. I’ll check it out. I think it’s in the pacing of the jokes I make. 😂 Very David Brent.

@@SpedSpedding ha, I thought you might get a kick out of it. It was like an accidental controlled experiment. She doesn’t know who Gervais is (only knows the voice of the cat) and had never heard you and was only listening to your voice. Yea, I have always been a fan of his, I really liked the show “Extras”, the pod cast with Carl and Steven Merchant, and some of his stand up. I would not recommend the Willoughby’s, unless you have young kids perhaps. 🎸👍🏼

Excellent lesson. I’ve always added the E note on the D string second fret to the opening line. What do you think?

I heard he used the make-shift guitar that Jack White made on "It may get loud"...I have also seen that Jimmy didn't play the B string with the Open-E at the start of the song or at the finish, sliding out on the Low-E...

I like your lessons; I like your style too. I think it's the drunk face I've been missing for the best outcome. I'll practice this. Should I try drinking first for best results? Anyway, great to see another lesson. I've kept my sentences short.

I do appreciate the short sentences! 😂 Especially after that long Shakespearean Zeppelin trivia paragraph. The face is essential, the drinking is optional. 💪🏻

with that lick on that hits the b string 3rd fret, could he be sliding that note A to B instead of hammer on? the slide seems more comfortable to do - particularly if beer is helping you play
