I hope there are more videos to come all of this was very helpful. but I'm still not actually sure how to translate songs onto my lyre. Being mostly confined to one scale range and whatnot I feel slightly left to the wolves.

There is a graph on the video called "Tuning Part 2" to help you tune, no matter what pitch your lyre may be in.

Are those strings nylon? The lyres that are sold here come with metal strings but I like the sound of nylon better.

Hi Connie. Yes, I always use nylon strings on my lyres. They simulate the "gut" strings of the Anglo Saxon lyres in the 6th century. Also, in the old days, Irish harpers flooded Europe. These hapers, "bards," used metal strings. Nylon strings are played mostly with the fingertips and seem more dynamic, metal strings respond better when played with the fingernails. Just the other day I posted another video called "Block And Strum" that shows the chords that are playable on a seven string lyre. Make sure you subscribe if you enjoy my channel, I upload new videos all the time in the 3 categories, "Lessons, Lyre Music Close-up," and "Lyre Music And More."
