How to play the Overpowered Knight Enchanter Mage Build: Dragon Age Inquisition

This is the combat for the overpowered build for an in depth explanation behind the build and how to play it.
This Knight Enchanter build is overpowered and for once made me like KE just for a bit. I never liked the class but this build was fun, bringing CC, damage and being un-killable this build lets you stop on enemies. You can get high charges on spirit blade and then using them all up for high damage whilst constantly casting spells in between.

Eh true. I hated Arcane warrior because when I tried to cast a damn spell the character would put his weapons away then cast it which for me defeated the purpose.

I don’t think they really nerfed it though. What really made Knight Enchanter stupid powerful was having essentially infinite barrier, infinite mana indefinitely, and being the mage artificer. I think they made it even more powerful is what I’m getting at.

I've tried the build and yes, it's great, but seriously, don't think it's near as fun or effective as my ice knight enchanter. Frost Staff + Energy Barrage (with the dmg reduction upgrade), + Frost Step cold dmg + Winter's Grasp 1,000% wpn dmg upgrade, which crits for 12k on a single target + immolate for mobs that are immune to frost. All the spells you need, really... blizzard + static cage once you max out is just icing on the cake, lets you take out all the little things fast, but then again they usually die in one shot when I frost step through a half dozen of them at a time anyway... when. I max the dmg on my staff with a dragon's tooth almost always use the Lovias staff made with Silverite, Great Bear Hide for crit, and everite for attack -- put a grip on that that you like, and I use the fade touched gurn hide on that staff for 10% dmg per enemy (which can get insane) but if you don't want to spend 8 hours farming gurns in hissing wastes, then just use a dragon tooth on it for the 10% to make it 82 frost damage... now go get yourself a fade touched snofluer hide with horn of valor proc and sew that into your armor... WALA +15% dmg for most of the fight, and that stacks on your 82% staff dmg if you used a dragon tooth, so now your staff dmg is calculated at 97 whenever horn of valor goes off (which is always), and if you have a warrior in the group with the horn of valor upgrade, congrats, your whole group is a fighting machine. Your crit rate is probably close to 70% between your staff, the grand duchess mask, and your qunari Genie Pants made of dragon webbing, silken nether cloth, and lurker hide for cunning... and I put a great bear sigil on that for a huge mana pool, which means I can be at low mana with plenty in the tank and take full advantage of conductive current almost all the time... Now energy barrage is critting for 600 to 700 dmg per projectile against non frost resistant mobs, your winters grasp is regularly critting for 12 to 15k, and frost step is critting for 3 to 4k and then I use either two crit bonus dmg rings OR an energy barrage and a winters grasp ring -- I've found that either come out to the same though with the 30% winters grasp ring the energy barrage + winters grasp combo can get you almost barrage crits of 1k per hit and winters grasp crits of 20k on Fire dragons.I I once killed the hinterland dragon in at level 15 on nightmare in 9 seconds solo with this build... so broken. Ice mobs are resistant to ice you say? Well yea, but they still die so fast its laughable. All KE builds are easy and uber, but the ice has the funnest play style, IMO -- because you are flying around the battlefield with frost step and freezing them then killing them with winters grasp, or freezing them with energy barrage and killing them with winter's grasp -- and then spirit blade. I never bother with fade cloak... or fire mines because why slow combat down to a crawl when a properly built ice knight enchanter can be flying around the battlefield like a whirling dervish doing massive damage!

@@gustavolopes6646 Yes, though you use the spirit blade a lot less and it's not utterly broken like a few other builds... pre nerf it was always the main attack... post nerf it's supplemental. The thing that remains the backbone of the KE is barriers. Granted, it's no longer "the uber class" -- which I would argue is either The Champion or the Reaver -- funny how Iron Bull is so frightened of Vivienne and how Blackwall is always saying "I would have no chance against you." ---- ha! Blackwall and Iron Bull are BY FAR the two most powerful companions in the game post KE nerf, and it's not even close.

Thanks :D dealing with the avvar is just like any other, get great CC that a mage can give with Barrier as well. Take a great tank like blackwall that wont die. And then have 2 heavy damage dealers, should work very well.

I don't use mines. I don't use static cage I use blizzard energy barrage with the extra missiles fade step in and use the spirit blade immediately and if you time it right you get an Insta kill on most if not all elite melee enemies I built it to murder a dragons health. I do a big chunk of health like a special attack in mortal combat. Then I get fade step again and I jump away use the lightning strike and paralyze it while my followers murder its health for a second cast barrier on them because mine is still full. Rinse and repeat. It kills most if not everything (dragons or something large like a pride demon) but by the time you've completed the first set everything just pops back up in the same order or close enough to it that whatever has managed to survive long enough that cool down times cannot keep up means it was a TON of enemies or a group of pride demons.

When it comes to gear i can only deal with 1thing so i would get my magic as high as possible meaning no crit rate not damage unless there is a slot where i csnt put magic or attack, so where i can i put magic or attack, cause if i try more complex i mess it up and end up with not soo good char

its because he mainly hard focuses on chance...you probably focus on crit alone or just magic...

@@PenheartKings it’s because he’s using flaming array which is also bugged. If he drop static cage and puts a fire mine that does 1600% of damage you can quite easily hit 14-16k damage with hardly any effort. Of course you can also drop it at your feet and fade step away a the effect is the same. Of course that also means you’re generating just as much to your barrier that it feels like your barrier is just permanently overcharged or something I hardly notice it ever going down unless I step and stay on a mine by mistake.

This build really make my eyes shine, but I've been thinking if I really should try this out, it's my first playthrough and I haven't even created my character. Artificer rogue seems a lot of fun too, what's your thoughts ? Also, how many time takes to get a character at this power level ( video ) ?

This is the one "problem" with Dragon Age getting up to this power level will take over 100 hours if you also want to play the game. But one good thing if you make sure to recruit all followers you can just play them as that class, ie you can go mage pick up Sera who is a tempest rouge and just play her if that makes sense. What I suggest is either picking the class you normally play on other rpgs and just save before you pick a spec and note the time so you can go back when ever. Or what I know others have done is just watch loads of builds by me or others and see what you think is the best. I hope that helps a bit, I know it's not a straight answer but hope it helps.

It's just a very very rare drop xD people have noted with screenshots that they have the ring. For this build changing that to the 5% crit chance will still work.

I really wished they had gone back to tactics/behaviours like they had in Origins as it was far more intuitive and in-depth. I understand their argument is that you could pretty much auto-pilot battles but surely that choice should be left to the player if they want to setup the tactics/behaviours to do so.

Some mobs just come back in areas, but that place i just never did lvling up so was able to just go back to it very high level :D

when he opens his abilities tab, you can see 71 skill points that he can use. that means he is using a trainer for extra skill points and insta level 27. and he should. after all he is theory crafting at this point. he shouldnt waste time for each build he may have in his mind.

there is a trainer: "DragonAge3Inq+16Tr-LNG-v1.11 ". you can search it online. it allows you to get as many powers as you want, or unlimited skill points or gold. it also allows you to get to max level the next time you get some exp. there are also other uses like: unlimited health potions, no cooldowns for spells and ect. you can try it. it helps to see the full potential of a build without playing the game for hours.

Checking this out now because I will replay this game and I consider playing KE (which'll be my first time playing as a mage). Looks pretty overpowered so far, although I wonder what happens when you're fighting enemies that are resistant to a certain element. How much of a difference could that make? For example, should you have both Ice Mine and Fire Mine in case they're resistant to one of these elements?

if thats the case...spirit blade generally bypasses all immunities. fire mine will only damage for about half of what you see here...buuut, fade cloak is so fuckn unbelievably op...elements just cant compare...when i played on ps3 without any dlc, i saw cloak being used every 5 seconds like this...and fire mine took too much time. then again, im use to infinite ability useage like archer artificer.

Idk I don't see this being OP but I haven't played this game enough played the first two but they are entirely different to Inquisition imo.. playing a dwarf archer lvl 19 atm pulling 15k heart shots long shot with great Crits at range and leaping shot with stealth one shots anything except the giant metal demons... but Idk I'll keep playing and see how things play end game
