excellent treatment of this topic with lots of detail. the most impressive example of a cross-court reverse slice i've seen cuts underneath the shuttle with an almost horizontal slicing action (otherwise prep and follow-through are exactly the same as your demonstration), the result is a fast but rapidly decaying trajectory to the net corner that kinda bends around the net and seems to just fall out of the air from there. the professional player i know who does this can hit it consistently in matches. it's such an awesome shot that it's difficult to make a quality reply even when you know it's coming, and many players i've spoken with who've faced the reverse slice cross-court drop shot from this player agree it's the most difficult to return drop shot they've encountered. i've practiced it that way many times but still have trouble with consistency, and find it much easier to be consistent with the shot as you demonstrate it. but although i haven't mastered that slice with the horizontal action, practicing it has given me the skill of being able to finely adjust the amount of slice (forward or reverse) by adjusting the racket angle at the moment of contact so i can combine smashing and slicing action in any proportion, which i find useful to vary attacks. i'm never even sure what to call these hybrid slice-smashes, but for me that is an added use of the slice drop shot, that the technique can be carried over and blended into variations on the smash. thank you for all your hard work and beautifully produced instructional videos

There is a HUGE skill difference between the slices you presented and the ones I commonly see or use when hitting with a panhandle grip, some beginners or intermediate are stuck with that grip. More than Half the time I hit the frame of the racket using your professional method but with the noob grip the reverse slice has no problem reaching where I want. Attempting the shot in the late game with the forehand grip is particularly risky to me so I appreciate the tutorial.

Hey Greg and Jenny! I have a video request for you - Could you make a compilation with all different shots like forehead/backhand drop , serve , clear , smash , late backhand/forehand , slices , behind the back , brap , etc with 5-10 seconds given to each shot and if us viewers could refer to that back again for the perfect technique trying to copy you and you would also get many views from a single viewer , would also increase you watch time! Please consider doing this😀

Awesome video as always ! Quick question: For reverse straight slice should I strive to use same height of point of contact as for smash (or same as for reverse cross with straight arm) ? I'm asking because for some reason, it's much easier for me to hit straight reverse shot with a bit lower point of contact (and arm slightly bent).

I have a couple of questions... 1) straight reverse slice, what is the aim/deception of this? To make the swing look like a more powerful stroke but actually it's steep angled shot? Or is it more of a tight loop/dead drop kind of shot? 2) The straight reverse slice stroke seems to look like your brushing the shuttle face on (horizontal?) and slice 'across' or is it more of an angled 'cut'? Ie over pronate angle when contacting the shuttle? Or, does it depend on position you are vs location you want to hit? I find it hard to find the sweet spot between overpronation then cutting too thin and not enough and becomes a half smash...
@BadmintonInsight2 жыл бұрын
1. Yes to either make it look like you're hitting harder or cross court! 2. Yes it's more of an angled cut as you would say. It takes time experimenting around with it! Hope that helps :-)

@@BadmintonInsight Thank you very much for the warning 😀, luckily I play at a decent level, it's just that I tend to overpronate my forearm which gives a bit too much angle and hence goes out . Didn't realise some aspects of the shot until your video was uploaded just at the right time and hence I was thinking to apply the tips 👍. Some people just make it look so natural, it's a beautiful shot.
