I think i found my perfect place for learning niche gambits and openings nobody cares about but i think they can sometimes give far more joy than the 10th Italian or French (not that i have something against them), thank you

If Nf3 you can play Nc6 you transpose to Soller Gambit Deferred, which move order is normally d4 e5 ed Nc6 Nf3 (which is a normal Englund Gambit line) then f6. Been playing this for the last couple years in bullet/blitz it's definitly good fun.

Can I ask a hippo question. Currently floundering at 1kish elo. When is the best time to advance c/f pawns? I've lost a few games now where the engine wanted those pawns moved up, but I didn't. Is there an easy way to tell when it's their time to shine?

If i want to play such a gambit with the f-pawn, I would prefer the Blackmar-Diemer-Gambit. For the Englund-Gambit you should check the book from Stefan Buecker about it. A bit outdated, but still interesting.

Love the new videos but I gotta say I am missing the instructive hippo vids

It appears as if he has given up on the hippo army crowd. I'm just rewatching past vids looking for nuggets of wisdom I missed first time around. We miss you Solomon

I once found this gambit myself when I wanted to play the BDG as black. I don’t think anyone goes for e4. But it feels sort of mean to play something just because you know the will not know the right line
