Chris, your a frickin legend for dedicating an entire video to this section of The Stage. Helped me out a lot, tabs just didn’t do it for me and then I came across this. Your always the number 1 for learning hard shit like this and solos etc. Thank you so much!
@tylerwilson49517 жыл бұрын
One of my favorite things is learning a song by ear, then learning how to properly play it. I feel like learning the song by ear gives me a great feel for the song, whereas learning the song from tabs or a detailed lesson like this gives me a much clearer understanding of the piece. Thank you for the videos, I really appreciate them.
@beast11736 жыл бұрын
"Hard" is subjective. Sure, I can't play it... yet. But remember that if its hard then there is something valuable to learn from it. Take it down to the slowest possible speed you can play it at, focus on playing it cleanly, and then over time the speed will come out - as long as you work on tapping in a variety of songs.

Btw, that last arpeggio you weren't sure what to call is just a B Maj7 it goes 3rd, 5, 7, Root. It's just unusual in an E minor progression. Usually that would be a B7 so it would have the flat 7. Maybe he's getting this from the bebop dominant scale(1,2,3,4,5,6,b7,7 or B,C#,D#,E,F#,G#,A,A#). Not sure but it sounds good, so that's all that matters.

Hey Chris just letting you know that you can do the intro taps all on the b string, you don't need to use the g and b strings! :) I play it starting out with 5 7 12 then figured it out from there, hope that helps, it's a lot easier. But whatever way is comfortable for you is how you should stick with it.
@andyhong11318 жыл бұрын
I figured it out the same way man; taps on the B string. But Chris said Syn did it on the G string w/ the weird tap on 10 of the B string in between. Chris is right, i went and watched a live video. You can totally play it the way you're saying, Chris is just giving us the artists' actual interpretation.

The "Cheeky lil lick" you talk about.... when I do the string skip part I keep having a problem with the note change 8 11 16 on the third. the 16 ringing over the string skip to the 11 14 19 on the first. any suggestions? or do you even understand what I'm trying to say? it's section 2 on tab I believe. I keep getting bleed over now from the final note on the third string 16 fret as I'm skipping the string to do the hammer on for the 11 14 19 on the first string.

Bruno is correct here. Keep in mind it follows that progression but the chord shapes do not repeat on the second time through. The entire section ascends throughout the chord progression and ultimately ends on the same diminished shape that is used a few times in the song.
