To get the chunk you could also mute the strings by lifting the fingers on the left hand. To play la pompe right you need to use left hand to mute strings - the way you do it is more like the country-pick-mute which sounds great but not like la pompe. Try this: 1. Divide a bar into 1-eh-and-uh-2-eh-and-uh-3-eh-and-uh-4-eh-and-uh 2. On 1 you fret the board and strum and release fingers on eh (adjust to your liking) 3. On -uh you fret (press) the chord, strum on 2 and release fingers at the same time (= chunk) Repeat on 3-eh-and-uh-4-eh-and-uh as it was 1-2 There's more to it as I see it but this is the start. I often get the response that it is contradictional to conventional learning to mute by the left hand, but this is the way to do la pompe I believe. I would gladly go further into this topic if you want. Contact me at rolfedrengen a t gmail d o t com (replace a t with @ and d o t with .). I'm not a pro or anything so yeah, it's free and would be happy to share my experience :-)

Hey, I really don't understand what is the strumming pattern around 4:49 till the video is over. Is that: down, chunk, down, chuck, down, chuck + turnaround G:3,C:4,E:4, A:4 & G:4, C:5, E:5, A:5? It seens that he did a little and very short down strokes between the down and the chunk. Could sb help me plz? Thx a lot!!

thanks for this!! what about if you want to do gypsy jazz with a good old C chord so you have three other strings ringing out? can you just mute with the right hand?

Nice lesson - I think you should rename it 'Enhance the chunk' :)
