Alright,this is really helpful and informative! My little brother asked me to buy it for him and of course,I was intrigued about it(especially since I was worried that it'll be one of those "looks childish and friendly but is actually adult and violent). I don’t understand how to use upgrade and downgrade cards. I thought they were separate from your unicorns in your stable when played, but I’ve seen another video where they said that up and downgrade cards are attached 1 to 1 with a unicorn in your stable, allowing you to sacrifice and destroy downgrades. If they’re not attached, how do you reasonably get rid of them? Because it appears as if the game becomes a race to downgrade your opponent until they can’t do anything about it. If you can attach them, do you have to have a unicorn in order to use or collect them? I appreciate the info, me and my daughters are having a ton of fun with this game, but I’m trying to figure out why it feels very unfair at times.

Hi, if I understand the question, the Upgrade and Downgrade cards are not tied directly to the Unicorns. If you want to get rid of them from your Stable you can use a card with a “Sacrifice” function. Sacrifice means that you can take a card from your stable and put it into the discard pile. You could even sacrifice one of your Unicorns but I don’t see much advantage to that!

Thanks for the reminder! I fixed it in the description. 2 player is similar to the main version, but remove the indicated cards. Enjoy! Remove these cards from the deck and place them in the game box. They will not be used in the 2-player version of the game: All Basic Unicorns Queen Bee Unicorn Seductive Unicorn Rainbow Unicorn Nanny Cam Sadistic Ritual Slowdown Yay! Mother Goose Unicorn Necromancer Unicorn If you are adding expansions to your game, you can find a comprehensive current list of cards to remove for a 2-player game at UnstableGames.com. Before shuffling the deck, take out two Neigh cards and hand one to each player. From there, you may shuffle the deck and deal 5 cards to each player (giving each player a total of 6 cards in their hand to start the game, including the Neigh card).

That can be tricky, generally you must neigh immediately upon the thing you want to stop, if anything else playable happens (or the action is resolved) then the window has closed. End of the day, it’s the house rules that matter if there is a dispute, vote on how you want its rules to work going forward. Stay safe out there!

Good question. The stable has no limit for upgrade, downgrade or unicorn cards unless a played card says otherwise.

Sure, the baby unicorns are your one free unicorn to start with. The side pile of them is for if you lose one or gain one base on effects from played cards. It’s an unusual game mechanic that probably could have been left out, but as it is, just consider it to be a baby unicorn depot.

Is there a limit to the amount of cards that can be placed/played/stay active in the stable? An example could be that you have 5 unicorns in your stable, 2 downgrade cards from other players, and 1 upgrade card of your own. Is there a limit where you are not allowed to use any of the cards in your hand?

I’m not aware of a limit, it can get fairly crowded especially if you’re been ganged up on!

Good question: After a Magic card’s effect is resolved, it’s typically placed in the discard pile unless stated otherwise. Most Magic cards are for one-time use, meaning once you play them and their effect resolves, they are no longer active and go to the discard pile. So the long and short of it is that they effect players but don’t stay in the stables.

a “Neigh” card can be used to prevent a Unicorn card, or any other card, from being played into a stable. You play the “Neigh” card in response to someone trying to play a Unicorn card, and it cancels that play, preventing the card from entering the stable. Once a card is successfully in a stable, it cannot be “neighed” away; “Neigh” cards only work on cards that are actively being played.

I got the game for christmas ... last? the year before last? and I've played it with my partner's family twice, but I cannot find anywhere in the rules anything on neigh card specifics, we've gotten into an argument last time we played because of there not being a clear explanation on how to play neigh cards and me understanding them differently than the rest of the group. I was hoping to find a rule about them? or at least get a house rule. since my partner keeps wanting to neigh my cards and arguing "well there is a super neigh that cannot be neighed so that must mean I can neigh regular neigh cards" while I've been the whole time operating on the settings I've adjusted for card games from other games, where the stop card is NOT able to be stopped as per partner's card games rules I just feel like the game should have a clarification on certain parts of gameplay that I cannot find either online or in the rulebook that came with the game, and it's a shame. running into problems mid game and then arguing about how to play does make it less enjoyable for everyone

@@Play-In-Games alright, so let me dig into this a bit... what if Player 1 adds a downgrade card to Player 2's stable, then Player 2 plays a Neigh card, preventing the downgrade. Can Player 1 then play a Neigh card, doing a double prevent and allowing the downgrade to stay? Additionally in this scenario, could Player 2 then play a second Neigh card, doing a triple prevent to block the downgrade? And then do the 3 Neigh cards, plus the downgrad card, all go to the discard pile?
