Coming back the game after a 20 year hiatus. And this is by far the best and most easy to follow tutorial on KZbin for 40k game play. Thanks!

@@tabletopskirmishgames I used to play 4th edition decades ago. I’ve just put together two armies from my old bits and bobs so I can play with the kids. Rules and codexes are on order, we have Bjorn + 10 x Wolfguard Terminators (2x assault cannon, 1 x thunder hammer, 1x power axe and about 5 storm shields) and 10x intercessors vs Hive Tyrant, Carnifex, Lictor and about 12x Tyranids warriors, 3x with bones swords, one with venom cannon, 2 with devourers and the rest with death spitters. Not sure which is the better side, they are both around 760 points I think? We’ll play it then maybe add something new to take us to 1000 points. 🙂

At 5:52 the order of mathematical operations is given incorrectly. Multiplication comes before division. This may not come into play in 40k but for some reason many KZbin tutorials are given with these out of order. Remember what you were taught as a child. Please excuse my dear aunt Sally. Parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction.

I want to get back into WH 40k. Last version I played was the 3rd edition so this has been very helpful. I went into a warhammer shop the other day and they told me the 10th edition is coming out in 2023, should I buy the 9th or wait for the 10th edition first? I asked them in the shop but I think she realised that she’d just talked me into not spending £120 and subsequently started to back track. So I thought I’d get your independent opinion. Thank you for the great video 👍🏻
@tabletopskirmishgames2 жыл бұрын
That's awesome, a good time to get back into the game with lots of cool things in the pipeline. 10th edition should be out around May-July. I would say get the free 9th Edition rules PDF as that's all you need to start playing. You definitely don't need the book or any of the starter sets for the rules. This how to play video is all based on the free PDF. (If you want extra rules early on, you can find them for free on Wahapedia anyway). If you have a gaming group or friends to play with, you only need one army to start with too; so the starter sets could be overkill. That said, when 10th edition is released, GW will put out a box set with the new rules book and two good sized armies. These sets are often the best value, and I like having the option of playing another army or having one to practice against. You could even swap the models or sell them to grow the army you'd rather play with. So I guess learn to play with the free rules now, then start building an army you like the look of with units you choose rather than the ones in the starter sets. The rules in 10th shouldn't deviate too much from 9th so learning to play now will not be time wasted. What army are you interested in building?

Afternoon mate, this came up last night. Can you shoot through a friendly unit, into an enemy unit in 40k? Surely thered be a -1hits?
@tabletopskirmishgames Жыл бұрын
As long as you have visibility and can draw Line of Sight and the target is eligible, you can shoot through your own units. No penalties.

Thank you for this amazing guide. I'm a beginner (a completely noob!!) and i just bought the recruit edition and i would like to buy the Command Edition to expand the units and to have terrain , building and so on.. Is it possible with this configuration start playng with a friend? Is there a minimum army? (with for example a minimun 500 or 1000 points). Thank you. Roberto.
@tabletopskirmishgames2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Roberto! Really pleased it has been helpful. If you are playing for fun then any size army is ok. Most clubs will be 500 as a minimum. I really like the 1000 point size as you get to have a nice selection of units, but recommend starting small at 500 and then building up by adding a unit at a time that you like. Have fun!

Can I have a slanesh imperial knight? Could I have orks with my guardsmen? How do I know what's OK to combine with? Thank you for the video I appreciate the tutorial very much
@tabletopskirmishgames2 жыл бұрын
Really pleased the video was helpful! The codex for each army will tell what units you can have. You can also find resources online for free with a quick google search like "free 40k codex rules" or Reddit is great too. You can proxy any models for units (as long as it fits in with any competition rules you are playing, and make sure the opponents know who is representing who). So for example, you could have Grot or Orks playing as Guardsmen with Astra Militarum codex rules but just be aware of base sizes etc. I think this is a fun way to build a unique army.
