Forklift Matt omfg you have got to be kidding. Just shut up now. You would be the only person on the planet earth that had a dot going over all the tires looking for a plug which would be impossible to find unless spending hours wheeling through each wheel. You are being a nit picking hater d-bag. Why the heck you searching this video anyway you assnutz
@DavidJohnson-ri2on4 жыл бұрын
@@shortthrow50 I bet you would change your mind if a customer had a blow out and killed themselves or someone else. Forklift Matt is right. You need to patch tires even in cars. Hell Audi dealerships are not allowed to repair tires anymore period only replace for that purpose. The packaging on the plugs even say not for DOT use.

One thing I do pal is put a little rubber seam in on that rope it makes it go in a lot easier but it sometimes it makes it come out too easy too but if you do it just right it sure does help sliding it in and when you twist it and pull it back as long as you don't pull it all the way and suck it back out it works well just let it sit there

The tire plugs actually do work very well, but they need to be installed properly, and if the hole is big, one may need to use 2 plugs. The problem also is that people don’t want to read the instructions it comes with. I’ve installed a few on a semi truck and have yet to have any fail on me.

Use the reamer that comes with the kit, take the handle off and put it in the drill, then use tire patch glue and dip your plug in it, works as a lube and glues it permanently in place, cut off excess plug and light it, let burn down to flush, Will bond the plug all the way through the tire
@thereviewer4173 Жыл бұрын
Drilling is not needed and can be a bad idea without first finding the actual injury hole. That’s why the semi truck tire plug kit comes with lube so you can find the hole. Once you find the hole, you can drill it if you want, but the tire plug kit comes with something to clean the hole. Also, if you’re struggling to push it in, try using a rubber hammer. You’ll be surprised.

Top tip, once you have a good grip on the screw or whatever is in the tyre, get a pry bar and use that to help leaver the pliers up while pulling out what ever is in there.

Just a note on proper tool names. There is no such thing as a drill bit. A bit goes in a horse's mouth. The " drill " is a drill motor. It is a drill and a drill motor. My daddy taught me that when I called it a drill and drill bit. Now you know. 😂 Good video.

The struggle is real! Getting those rope plugs in is such a PITA then, half of them leak. Tech Tire Repair has a tool called an Insert-O-Matic. Used with their gum rubber coated inserts, it stretches the insert, making it easy to get in. Then, putting some vulcanizing cement on the insert causes the insert to vulcanize to the tire for a permanent repair. The tool is about $20, a truck needle is $2 and their truck size inserts are $46 for a box of 40. A few bucks for a can of vulcanizing cement and you're off to the races.

They might not be, but there’s no way of telling without taking the tire off. Mechanic shops use a combination of both a tire patch and plug. It’s one piece that serves the function of both.

It's temporary... unless it works. I have a few trucks in my fleet rolling around on plugged tires. I usually pull the tire off and patch it from the inside, but I'm not doing that while the driver is waiting.
@thereviewer4173 Жыл бұрын
You have to know what you’re doing. Failed plugs are usually due to mistakes when installing them. A plug can also fail if the injury hole was too big in which case 2 or 3 plugs can be used.
