When I do this full shuffle during the poker league I run, there's always somebody that says "this isn't the casino". By the way, a wash is not required for every shuffle. But at my casino, there are automatic shufflers in the tables. The dealer will do a wash anytime one is requested by one of the players.

In the UK, I went to an Asper's for the first time recently and they have automatic shufflers there. It was surprising to me, as I thought regulation would've required them to shuffle by hand, and manual shuffling is all I've ever seen at other casinos, like Grosvenor.

I love being that guy. Sorry, Greg, this is NOT a proper casino shuffle. After the final riffle, you have to fully release the deck before you do the one-handed cut. You said it. It's too easy to cheat. You have to release the deck to prove you didn't leave any breaks in the deck. A "break" is when you use one of your fingers to keep the two parts of the deck separated, signifying where you should cut from. Close but no cigars

Those are faded spade cards. They’re a little expensive but if you buy a set, I suggest getting the bridge size. The pips on the poker size cards are just a little too big IMO. You have to peel the cards back too far to see them.

I have never heard of a casino that does a wash after every hand. Usually it's just at dealer change, or when certain things happen like trips (not a set 😂) dealt on the board and of course when players request it. With automatic shufflers that 99% of tables have today it's not really ever necessary although they will still always do it at least when there's a new deck or opening a new table.

A wash is one of the best ways to shuffle the deck (when performed properly) to ensure randomness

A wash alone is about a perfectly random shuffle after about 1 minute of ‘washing’ according to a Numberphile video on YT about shuffle randomness. Combine a small wash with 3 total riffles and multiple cuts, then I’d say it’s pretty random.

Great question. It’s more of an issue if dealer sees, so better to face cards away.

Not really because there's still several shuffles remaining. But if the dealer is a mechanic and can see the cards after the wash, then the dealer could still stack the deck using those cards. A lot of casino rules are to protect everyone against the risk of crooked dealers.

This isn't exactly right. It's best to split the two halves, making a small triangle, to easily put the cards together. Also, you dont have to use a card to pick up the cards.

On your first explanation you missed the 3rd riffle after the strip, also for the most part this is correct, however if you're the dealer, after the wash you ALWAYS set the cards towards you rather than the players. Doesn't matter if you see cuz you aren't playing and should be impartial. Don't ever let the players see
