@@autogeek thanks, Mike. i doubt it though. Appreciate you guys taking the time to reply. I've learned so much from yt in general but once i found this channel its given me such a deep understanding of everything that is important and really how to perfect your work, its pretty amazing.

I ground and polished aluminum aircraft propeller blades for years. The trick is to use very fine grade sanding, followed by progressively finer metal polish. When you have the finish you want, put some corn starch on a soft microfiber cloth and gently buff it by hand. You will be amazed at what the corn starch does. I did some work for a restorer of classic Waco biplanes. He wouldn't let anyone else polish his blades. A cyclo dual orbital polisher was invented for polishing aircraft. They are worth the investment if you want to polish aluminum cars or planes.

Excited about the big give away. Just getting started in the detailing after getting frustrated with car washes putting swirl marks on my vehicles over the years. I never realized I knew so little about how to maintain a car correctly. Would absolutely love to win 10K of stuff. Actually made me create a KZbin login. Hey man when I hear anode vs cathode I automatically think plus or negative. So an anodized metal surface from what I just read is, for example, “a thin aluminum oxide film on the surface of aluminum substrates,” and I’m assuming the overall positive charge is responsible for protecting the surface. So, in your professional opinion, you rather have anodized protection or clear cost protection?

Clearcoat protection. It's really difficult to polish anodized coatings. I've had good luck myself but most people I know struggle with this coating. -Mike Phillips

technically the scratch doesnt ever go away and thats the key, you make everything around the scratch go away.

Correct. Did you know I have an article on this topic? I wrote it in November of 2010. After I wrote it most of the comments were kind of dumb. My guess is the concept is way too deep for most people but what I wrote is accurate.
