Toothpaste with baking soda is a fine grit. I use it for simple polishings. Any variety less the gel type

Its not fake.. its possible... My father removed scratches from old cassette player plastics in a small shop durin 1990s.. they did it perfectly.. but those shops are not available now....

As a last step, he painted the piece with clear spray paint. Instead, buy new part... It looks extremely cheap plastic part.
