We're pouring the concrete for a 32' x 44' two bay garage floor today.
I'm wearing some new concrete boots I got from Roger over at Hisea.com
My old boots had cracked and were leaking so Roger wanted me to try his boots and let you know what I think.
I've been wearing them for about 10 concrete pours up until now so I've got a pretty good idea how they are working for me.
I let you know in the video!

I got HiSea work boots after Mark Galicic and his partner got them and raved about the boots. He’s a sawmill guy I watch. I never thought I would need another pair of boots, but I still ain’t dead, so I got new boots! I think they are great, comfortable and a lot cheaper than the last pair! I don’t think they’re steel toe, but composite toe, which I need for splittin wood and etc. Very happy with them. Thank God I won’t need concrete boots again, I think 🤔 Enjoy your videos and the important advice you have for others who might need it! Keep ‘em comin!👍😀

Y’all are some incredible masons. The work speaks for itself but it’s your commentary and educational messages that make your channel so enjoyably valuable. Thank you for the entertainment and education. Do y’all ever work in existing basements? I have an old farmhouse from 1913 and part of the basement was poured, screeded, but it’s rough texture appears to never have been troweled or taken any further. I am curious if it’s realistic to go overtop with fresh mud (it’s about 1” below the rest of the room) or if I should just build a subfloor and call it a day. Thank you for the time, -CY Castor Good luck with the new boots!!
@MikeDayConcrete

We have worked in a lot of old basements like that. You can cap over the existing with a couple inches. Depends on what you would like I guess.

You guys have gas and battery power screeds but still seem to do a lot of manual kick screeding by hand. I'm really curious as to why you're doing that on wide open pours like this one with no pipes or anything in the way. Wouldn't it be easier on your backs and save on labour to use the power screed on jobs like this? What am I missing?
@MikeDayConcrete
@MikeDayConcrete 2 жыл бұрын
You're not missing anything. This garage had some slope, we don't usually vibra-screed a slope. The garage wasn't too big either, sometimes the guys just choose to hand screed on smaller pours. Not really more labor intense on small pours.

I've just learned over 30 years to buy 2-3 pairs of the cheapest boots I can find. I've bought $200 muck boots and ruined them within a few days on rebar, wire, a nail/screw sticking through the form. I've had $15 boots last a year. Seems the same way with everything with me though. I can keep a $5 tape measure for years but my $40 tapes grow legs and walk away when I'm not looking.

If people saw the slump pouring the Word Trade Center 7 it was like a 9 slump 15,000 psi though. I see a lot of guys on you tube pour 4 or 5, I only do on a ramp that's got lot's of pitch. I like Muck boots for Concrete because I use them again for Hunting. I recently bought Cabelas Red Head brand there ok not as comfortable and nice as the Muck brand. I don't have a problem buying new ones every year it's a write off anyways why not take good care of your feet, my foundation work boots cost $370 a pair bought 2 pairs in case one gets wet. Crispy makes them made in Italy, use to have Mendl there really nice also made in Germany.
