I love these videos. Learn a lot from them. But knowing your son works with you is the best part. I worked for my dad from when I was 14 on, in his gas station and rustproofing shop. Didn't always love it, dads and sons sometimes butt heads. But looking back, I treasure it immensely. Taught me a lot about life, not just work

There are a couple things I really appreciate about this guy: If he gets there early and the only thing between the crew and their homes is the work, he gets started. Second, you see when they're laying the wood back up in the truck , the fella he's working with struggles a bit with a piece. The next piece, he's got the back and he sets it in. I don't know for sure that this guy is good to his workers, but it certainly seems like he takes care of them. This is heavy work and you have to appreciate those details. After all, you're only as good as your crew!

I've been watching a lot of these how-to's on pouring concrete walls. Yours is the first one where I saw someone pour the footer first. 👍 I thought it was so wasteful for the concrete to just be allowed to seep out (in other's vids). This video shows a much cleaner finished product. How long did the footer have to sit before you started the pour on the wall?

You can.. The footing should be at least 18 inches thick 3 feet wide.. Rebar #5 12 inches on center That's how we will build the wall

Ideally you want to pour it all monolithic. You can Pour separately. We use number five rebar 12 inches on Center for all the walls. At minimum you should make that footing 3ft wide 18 inches to thick. THAT'S just how I will build IT if im doing it

@@AllAccessConstruction thanks for the reply, yes my wall and footing total height together will be only 3 1/2' tall 100' long just wondering being I figured about 13-14 Cubic yards of concrete!

I still don't quite get about the stakes, are they hammered into the ground, or just braced against the front of the trench? And did you lift them out while the concrete was still soft? I notice you didn't diagonally brace the front stakes off the sidewalk, I'm just a bit mystified how the whole thing doesn't want to tip over onto the sidewalk..
@AllAccessConstruction
@AllAccessConstruction 3 жыл бұрын
The stakes are hammerd Into the ground. Also, with this project we ended up pulling the stakes out because we had to leave a broom finish to match the sidewalk.. Appreciate the comment 👍🏾.. Check the 1:37 mark. The second stake next to the one we pulled out is not in the ground. It's more of extra support..

@@AllAccessConstruction I see. I guess that means a maximum cure time of about an hour? Did the footing cure quickly enough to support the fresh concrete? I thought I had to wait at least 3 days to pour the wall. Thank you.

All our walls are poured monolithic..if I would take a guess I'll say anywhere between 30 minutes and hour Depending on how long the wall is. We have poured walls as high as 8 feet this way.. Appreciate the comment 👍🏾 💯
