Mike just subscribed! I’ve been watching your videos now for long time. And let me tell you, even though you can’t show me in person I have learned so much from your channel! So thank you! I’m fairly new to concrete still. I just switched over to commercial jobs so it’s a little different from residentials and I’m learning how to wet screed and mannnn do I struggle sometimes. What is a typical heave height for a new (2019 install) concrete driveway butted up against an older garage with an expansion joint? I'm in Western NY, and, as you may know, 2020-2021 winter was very cold.

Mike, I've been watching a lot of your videos and I have so many questions you can answer in future videos. Here are a couple for now. 1. I want to raise an existing concrete patio that has cracked and settled over the past 30 years. The new slab will be raised to the level of the foundation which is 4"-5" higher so if I add rebar do I still need to remove the old slab or can I just pour over it? 2. You said in this video and in others that you don't steel trowel over the slab, but I see that Mike was troweling just before you broom it. Whats the difference between Mag floating and steal troweling? You are doing the same thing when you push the aggregate down aren't you?

@@steveb491 depends how hard it is obviously, but you could use anything a couple chunks of Styrofoam, plywood, sliders are just easiest because you there's no Time wasted on moving unlike ply wood or foam etc

Chunks of rigid foam. Chance are fubu doing concrete there's some laying around. If not find a holding site there will be some scrap layen around.
