You sir, are a true artisan... I just did concrete at my house and it looks every bit a DIY homeowner Frankenstein job, Not the worst I've ever seen or done, but certainly nothing like your skillset... props to you sir, it takes great skill and pride in your work... great job!

100% agree! You can tell in most videos they chop out all the bits that dont go to plan so it looks like they got it pefrect first time. This shows the real side of working on the tools mistakes are made but with skill and experience you can right any wrong!

Touch the top. Should feel fairly firm . Leaving small indentations with the finger tips. Many variables come in to play. Temperature, ground moisture, wind, sun, da mix. Keep your eye on it.

working with cleaner tools may assist, the mag float is covered in concrete slurry dried for years
@nicholascasatelli69494 жыл бұрын
Broken in and worn down used mags are better for finishing concrete. New crisp floats suck a fat one, they gouge at first till they're broken in...Hence it gets relegated to placing only....and all that hard crap can be scraped off and cleaned. When it's 90+ out and your knee deep there's no time for it.

How do you determine a comortable rise/run for a sidewalk with steps in it? I have one I want to do and want to make sure that the steps are a comfortable distance apart, and the rise is not too high or low. overall the rise is 24-28" over 120" of run. I don't want to make the steps an awkward distance between them so that I can't walk comfortably down them.
@maxxautomotive6 жыл бұрын
Tim Stoltzfus we are in lincoln ne. City code says all steps must be equal. Rise and tread. If it was my job i would do 2 steps at 7inch tall and 12inch tread each. then a 72inch landing then 2 more steps. Or have no landing. But 7inch steps feel good when walking

Little tip use your mag to finish it. Dont use your finish trowel for a brush finish it will come out the same but years later it will hold a better face little something something not to many guys know
@SANGREAZULCREMA75 жыл бұрын
Why do you do that with the paint brush for?
@brianmorton256 жыл бұрын
Hey man I have to give you a lot of credit man I don't see too many people on KZbin that know what they're doing what concrete and I'm a cement finishing myself and you do good work bro. Also I find it kind of funny there's a couple guys that used to use it on my crew well not my crew but the company I work for a couple of the guys use them the pool trowels only an idiot would finish with a pool trowel that means that they cannot run a trowel the right way another words they can't finish concrete anyways man great job
@maxxautomotive6 жыл бұрын
Brian Morton Thank you sir
@jeblowme2nite6 жыл бұрын
Brian Morton I use pool trowels all the time, been finishing my whole life, they have a place
@brianmorton256 жыл бұрын
I like pool trowels that good for doing pools and some flat work but a real finisher uses a real trial with square edges
@RRC15 жыл бұрын
Ive got a pool trowel thats rounded on one end & square on the other end. The other dude is right,they have their place.

How long do you have to wait to remove the form after you pour?
@foreignbeggar37836 жыл бұрын
EGGINFOOLS it honestly depends on how well the concrete is setting up. the quicker it sets up (gets hard) the quicker you can pull forms off and rub the face of a step, or a curb, or whatever you’re rubbing like that.
