Thank you for presentation. FYI, the photos are not panned out wide enough to see the bullet results you proved. You describe a bullet color that is not in the frame. I know, camera work is tough. I have trouble make snap shots. That’s just me. hahah

Probably old news to you, but MP moulds are amazing. High quality brass molds, lots of HP options, relatively cheap prices, insanely fast shipping, beyond amazing customer service! If you haven't tried them, I highly recommend them!

Sure they are really great molds, another good thing is I dont know many mold makers making 8 cavity aluminum molds.I have a .359 RNFP 140gr 8 cavity and also the RNFP 452-200 HP mold another great one. I also have NOE HP molds and both designs are good, both can be some trouble if you dont get the steel pins hot enough, so I now torch HP pins of any HP mold and find that helps them fall free of the pin easier alot faster. I think theres a distributor now selling them on bay, but I bought mine direct from MP in Slovenia I think it was.

@@leveractiongypsy1848 yeah, your touch tip has definitely helped me with several HP and HB molds. At some point I'd be interested in seeing a video where you rank all of the powder coats or like a top 10. Keep up the good work Sir

@@joearledge1 I know alot of PCers use alot of different brand paints but I use Eastwood pretty much exclusively at this point. It works great and I have a pretty good stockpile so I dont plan on buying any PC for a while. This vid and the last I describe what I think are the best. When I''m ladder loading I like to have 4-5 colors going so I can color code the loads. What PC are you using and what colors? Are you getting the results you want?
@joearledge12 жыл бұрын
@@leveractiongypsy1848 pretty much stuck to Eastwood so far. I haven't done alot, but have been happy with the results. I don't remember all the colors I have, I just picked up about 5 of the top colors recommended by LOB and Elvis Ammo a while back. Always looking to expand the palate though. Always interested to hear recommendations from people like you who do it a lot more.

@@joearledge1 Ok well I'll skip those super easys and say of Eastwood check out Silver Base, Ruby Red, Navy Blue, for easys a little trickier can be Vermillion especially if you use too much powder. I guess if you watched these vids already you know haha. I say more important is if you are not getting results check conditions like humidity, humidity in the powder or using too much powder. Start with one tablespoon of powder and go up from there if the are not fully coating

As to Eastwood temp instructions, maybe they are right…but maybe for cast lead bullets, maybe high temps make a softer BRN hardness on bullets. I started with Eastwood and tend to like their product and price per half pound a lot. Another consideration in experimenting. I plan to try the high temp, dropping done to 250-degree threshold around 7 minutes and taking them a total of 13-15 minutes total oven time. Half of time I’ve the 400-degree descent to 250-degree, then holding the, at 250 for the next 7 minutes, then quenching.

Thanks for your excellent comments, I'm still experimenting with temps and Eastwood powders. I just went through a major move across several states so I havent been back to shooting and testing, but I'm thinking my next test will be lower temps to see if I can get an even better concentric flow. I stopped following the high temp instruction for Eastwood as I got too much globbing of the powder in experiments after this video. I'd like to hear about your results or maybe do a video for the 250 temp test. One thing you might be interested in if you can find a copy is the RCBS Cast Bullet Manual. It has some great info on heat treating bullets. Its basically dependent on your alloy and antimony content but the temp ranges are typically 475-500 with some alloys needing a bit more heat. You have to waste a small amount of bullets to watch for the 'slump' point, then lower the temp about 5-10 degrees. Then you water quench. If anything with higher PC temps you are likely making a harder bullet not softer

The vermillion and yellow orange came out pretty evenly coated though, yeah? Whenever i see yellows they're splotchy as all get out
@leveractiongypsy18482 жыл бұрын
Yeah I've had no luck with Eastwood Bird Yellow, but their Orange-Yellow is one that works. I only bought it as when I ordered they were out of a lot of colors but if you do alot of ladder loading tests lots of colors can help by color coding the different loads.Vermillion is good too but both can be tricky if you have too much powder as it wont create a good static 'dust' of powder.

@@leveractiongypsy1848 roger that.... i truly appreciate the info ❤ Ladder testing was EXACTLY the reason I got excited seeing the thumbnail for this video 😎 plus those are some of the most vibrant examples ive seen.... Have you been able to find a good green yet?
@leveractiongypsy18482 жыл бұрын
@@streamylc I havent really looked yet as where I shoot I like to collect the bullets too for reuse and here in Montana its pretty green where I shoot haha. I know guys that use a florescent green for the sake of easy collecting especially if its a good alloy you want to re use. I use Eastwood colors and I know the lime green is a good one that works, maybe I'll get some for the next time I buy. I'll bet their 'Tractor Green' would be an easy one. Just start out with a minimal amount of powder. The Reloaders Network is a good group to join as lots of PCers there. @@streamylc I did the HPs in yellow and orange as I think my alloy is too brittle and want to see how far the fragments go. I figure yellow and orange will be easiest to find if I find them at all!

@@leveractiongypsy1848 I have tried neon green , ford dark blue , squirrel grey , and perry winkle gray . The green is very blotchy . The rest work ok here in humid Florida ! I think that makes it harder to get the powder to stick . IDK .

@@pony_4759 If you have a small room you can work in and a small electric heater that should improve the PC conditions. Crank up the electric heater in the room with the PC powder tubs open, close the door and maybe 30-45 minutes you should have at least better conditions. It has made a difference for me in the past and you have nothing to lose!
