Yeah I couldn’t seem to find the answer in the sponsored videos I was watching but it works fine. Just another way to use it for those of us who don’t need the handleb
@mickfigura2449Ай бұрын
i wrote to the tilta, smallrig and dji support regarding this topic - they told me, the focus grip needs 8v, but the vmount provides 15v, so they said, it would fry the focus grip. did you have it in use for longer now?
@11.PierreАй бұрын
I think DJI puts out different info but you could always just use a 65w power bank as well! I haven’t had any problems other than the cable going bad before!

Great video thanks. Could you try to connect the lidar and the motor on usb to see if the grip can work wireless please?
@11.Pierre7 ай бұрын
Can you explain this a little more? You wanna see if it works without them being plugged into the grip itself? So you could theoretically have it wireless like the other focus wheel they sell?
@NineSevenPictures7 ай бұрын
@@11.Pierre exactly. I see another creator use it whith the pro grip and for that he just plug the lidar and motor on usb. And when he power on the big grip it just connect wirelessly. My theory is they need power but not connection. Sorry for my English, I'm French.

Can I use my rs3 battery on focus pro hand grip as an extra battery?

Should work fine, it has the same attachment connecting part but I personally haven’t tried it

Just a quick one - do be careful of what power is going into these... The Ronin RS Pro's and Focus Pro have different voltages and we've been hearing of a lot of Focus Pro's blowing up because of incorect batteries, USB C and other power being plugged into them.
@11.Pierre4 ай бұрын
Correct! I believe as long as you are not running the USB C into both ports at once you should be fine! I need to update this video. It’s also safe to use grip with power bank going directly into the grip handle!

@@11.Pierre it also depends on voltages etc. TBH we’ve also done a video on the Film Guy channel and we’ve been wondering if we should make an update. They’ve been mostly out of stock for a while now and myself and others we know have already had to RMA units that have blown up. Bit concerning at this point!
@11.Pierre4 ай бұрын
@@ShaneVanLitz I had 1 blow up as well, DJI took care of it. The group on Fb has a user doing lots of testing. It may be good to update the video for folks but I suspect it’ll take a little longer for people to adopt. I got lucky with mine. I still like it, but it def had some kinks

how do yo power the red Komodo if the vmount battery is already powering the grip and the lidar?
@11.Pierre7 ай бұрын
I have the BP to v mount adapter for the Komodo, so it powers the Komodo from there. then I use 2 ports to power the lidar/grip. I removed the grip in the video and replaced it with a DJI power base that plugs into the v mount.

Why would you want to mount the lidar camera so high? I thought it is better if it is closer to the lens / sensor?
@11.Pierre7 ай бұрын
Still tweaking it, tbh I’ve seen people mount close to body and close to lens. But I actually have a longer magic arm (+ extra hot shoe , this way I can try both methods properly) coming later today. My handle was taking up space lol, I’ll talk more about this in my full video. DJI says get it close to camera sensor, other youtubers had it close to lens. So we’ll see but so far it seems to work either way (it allows you to input the distance on the system which you manually measure) but I’ll circle back. Trust, that was 1 of the tricky things about setting it up that confused me as well. I’ve never used lidar at all until this week. From what i noticed, it seems you want to get it as close to the field of view as the lens because the lidar works damn good. Whatever box is highlighted on the lidar screen is what will be in focus so I can see why others had it near lens but I’ll be testing it more to confirm.

not to answer for him, but i have mine mounted in similar fashion currently to clear matte box flag and still maintain FOV past lens below it. but this is really the million dollar question for everyone it seems. im personally trying to get a setup where its below lens near where it ends at the end of rails. but you have to make a custom mount for it. and if you want to use something like rs4 pro gimbal, the top handles can get in the way on some mountings/load balance combos. while im liking the system for manual lenses to AF, the setup/rig can be a headscratcher at times between various setups and not recalibrating too much.
@11.Pierre5 ай бұрын
@@prOkrEAt did you see the new Nitze kit? it should be on amazon now but it's designed to mount at the bottom. and I agree, the only headache right now is mounting and im sure the system itself will continue to improve overtime. I haven't tried the nits kit but I may order it. I just saw it maybe last week from FB. nitze lidar mount should be the name for around $60
@prOkrEAt5 ай бұрын
@@11.Pierre haven't seen that. I'm building around a rail system for my setup. Figure it's going to be easiest way regardless and ultimately have to use v mount battery anyways since it sucks power pretty quick. So was looking for a cross mount for that type setup. Looking at that smallrig base like you have. Powers both in and out. But running transmission and their power hub so hand grip/gimbal isn't powering whole system now.
@11.Pierre5 ай бұрын
@@prOkrEAt that makes sense, I didn't realize it could mount at the bottom and ended up doing this as my 2nd configuration. the results were pretty solid but at the bottom should be the best option for FOV

What if i only want to get power for the motor?, what voltage of usb C cable to D tap i need?
@11.Pierre5 ай бұрын
Hmmm I need to review and re-do this video. I had to send my end in repair, so once I get it next week I'll update a video on the proper method to do this. I have asked DJI about all of these voltages to figure out the best case scenario for this.
