How do they cancel out errors? Like for example if I were to plug the device in my notebook which is on the table and I bump into the table, they data would show that there's something going on.

Hi, I believe the central monitoring system will reconcile the data with relative close by area to check the authenticity of data..

+Tengu Siv that's how real seismometers are installed, and when the seismometers feels an earthquakes it sends the alert to the stations so alert can be transmitted through the official channels like radio or smartphones apps so people can prepare when the wave hits

Silly question perhaps... Why ins't this device embedded in every new computer sold, at least be an option when you buy a computer? If we get the manufacturers to agree the public would be willing to pay for the nominal fee and and can use software to enable it so it, so that it would be a voluntary intentional activity for the computer owners?

+Tony Bernardi Some laptops have a similar device built in to monitor movement to enable the hard drive to park its head in the event of a fall. There have been open source projects to tie into this information to map movement of earth quake waves. Mobile phones also use a similar device to measure orientation too...

Isn't this useless ? I mean yeah ... Let's say we can cancel out whatever is caused by people moving the device or something. You have some data telling you more precisely what magnitude is the earthquake and whet it was triggered. How can that information help anyone to "predict" the earthquake ?

The device can't predict an earthquake but they're trying to collect data as much as possible so then the seismologists can have more data to work with, and make theories about how to predict earthquakes. But the device itself can't predict one
