I got my period at 14 1/2 (pretty late) so for years I was anxious about it thinking I was different or wouldn’t get it. I’m just here to remind you everyone is different! I had symptoms like these on and off for years before getting my period, I actually had discharge for 3 years before getting my period. It’s important to remember that these things can help you understand when you might start, or they may not mean your period is starting really soon.

ok, i'm 13, got my period YEARS ago, and i'm going to help you guys out as much as I possibly can. 1-it's not that scary. people like to make it seem like it's the worst thing in the world. even if you have a heavy flow, it's still not that bad. cramps might be bad, but in the end, it'll be OK. 2-everyone is different. at first I got zero cramps. but now, I get loads of cramps. don't let your friends, the Internet, or anyone else tell you what's normal and not. unless it's life-threatening, everyone is different. 3- you cannot control the mood swings. as much as your parents or anyone else tell you to act less moody, it's nearly impossible to make yourself happier and/or delightful. 4-please please please do not be ashamed to talk about periods. it's natural and OK. if anyone makes you feel bad about it, they've most likely not been through it, or feel sorry for themselves. it's totally fine. 5-do not be forced to use a tampon so quick. i've had my period for years, and I choose to use pads. not cause I have to, but because it's more comfortable and better for me. 6-everyone's flow is different. if you start off with a heavy flow, it's natural. if you start off with a light flow, it's natural. just talk to your parents or doctor to make sure you're healthy and stable. you will be ok. 💕if you have any questions i'm here 🩷🩷💕

i am 12 and i got my period when i was 11 about half a year ago. i didn’t start with a heavy flow, so it was hard to tell that i got it or not since the blood was sort of mixed in the discharge. i experienced the same thing going on for a few days and came to the conclusion i got my period. a few weeks later it finally became a normal flow and i knew for sure i had gotten it, i was excited about it but OH GOSH i regret wanting it. now every time i get it i want to shove my face on a pillow and scream my heart out. for girls who are excited and wanting their period, u won’t be happy about it after a few times❤️❤️❤️

Hi I'm 11 at the moment. I actually got my first period around 9 or 10. First of all, don't panic. A few hours before you get it, you feel cramps. Not bad ones, usually some lights ones that indicate you are going to have your first period. I would recommend bringing a kit to school just in case. Always good to have a trustworthy friend too. And one last thing, please don't be waiting or get excited for it. Once you get it, you'll understand the sadness. Yeah, it sucks

I’m 12 turning 13 really soon and my mom got her period when she was 11. When I was 11 doctors told me I would definitely get mine before I turned 12 but nope. I’ve had so many growth spurts and my breast development, pubic hair growth, and discharge have been happening for more than 2 1/2 years and me and my mom are a little worried. I’m not sure if I should get blood work or not, but I probably will 😅

Yesterday (4th of july) i got pink-ish red discharge on my underwear, many, MANY cramps, mood swings, and achne. I have been getting brown discharge as well. I am 12, and my mom got hers around 12.

Always have an emergency kit like a little purse with toilet paper pads /tampons wipes and an extra underwear Change ur pad ever 2-3 hrs depending on ur flow Try not to eat spicy food on your period Use a heating pad to help with cramps or a hot water bottle Thess are all the tips i have but u could ask your mom or dad for more advice

no one asked but here’s my first period story. so like. I had cramps, it lasted for 4 days. Monday - Thursday. On the fourth day, it was a school sadly. I went into the bathroom, Yknow doing my business then wiped, to see blood😔. I came out the bathroom shaking, I didn’t have any supplies. Sadly in my city we don’t offer free sanitary supplies in schools. Later when I went home, I put on a pad. PRAYING I was gonna be okay to go to an overnight school event. “Sportaphon.” A 12 hour sports event without sleep. 6pm-6am. I only brought one pad and had to survive on it. At 4am, I texted my mum saying “I’m on my period helppp!” (She wasn’t awake sadly-) I got home and she said. “Congrats on being a woman.” I went to sleep and woke up bleeding everywhere.
