Hey can you do this on acrylic tumblers before adding vinyl doing the same process?

Good morning! What kind of vinyl do you use to make the circles to cover the starbucks logo? Is it just removable or is it a stencil vinyl or some other kind of specialty?

Hi, does this work the same for the lids?

Curious if you had any issues with the BT not adhering to the starbux logo.
@VondaHoward3 жыл бұрын
Ok, I thought I was the only one. Im having that same issue!
@MelissaCrafter3 жыл бұрын
Many people have this issue.. including myself. the logo has some type of coating that cause brite tone to sort of repel. The way I always get it to cover is by adding BT to the logo first every time I'm adding a coat. Then I go ahead and coat the rest of the cup and once im done I do back and add a little more BT to the logo. I do it this way every time I add a coat and it eventually covers. Dont worry if in the first or second coat it still doesn't cover the logo. it will cover up by the third coat. Hope this helps :)

Hello, my main issue is brite-tone flaking tried curing for 5 days then 14 days and I'm still having this issue. What am I possibly doing wrong?
@unknownXY.3 жыл бұрын
I’ve had issues with my britone flaking off after I’ve cured for the five days and each layer was done properly. Wondering if anybody is having this issue and figured out how to fix this? I sand my cups and apply a clear coat of spray paint, I’ve tried without and it does the same thing. Britone will start to flake after a bit.

Hi ladies. What was your cup prepping process like? Flaking happens mostly when brite tone doesn’t have a good surface to adhere well to. Cup prepping consist of sanding & washing the cup before decals & brite tone.

@@MelissaCrafter hi! I am sanding & washing. I apply a thin layer, let it spin for an hour, let it dry for 4 hours & repeat 2-3 times

Thank you for sharing. I have a question Do I have to sand on every code of brite tone and I wait 3 to 4 hr in between so it drys, just making Sure on the steps that I have to take, it will be my first one that I make. Thanks for sharing your work, I have being watching your videos and I starded following you on instagram.
@MelissaCrafter3 жыл бұрын
Hello, thanks for watching & also following me on Instagram 😊 so you do have to wait the 3-4 hours in between coats. So after every coat of brite tone you allow the cup to spin for an hour and then dry for an additional 3 hours before your next coat. You only have to sand every three coats. So after your third coat is dry you can sand your cup and then go on and add your 4th coat. I recently made a video on sealing a Starbucks Cup if you want to check it out 😊 kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3bRc59meNGsbJY

Do you add the base for the glitter to be more noticeable?
@MelissaCrafter3 жыл бұрын
Yes or to match the base to the glitter. It helps with only needing 1 coat of glitter

Can acrylic paint be used after sanding as a base coat? The kind of acrylic paint that a sponge brush is used to apply paint, I think the paint its like .45 to .99 at Walmart. Great video thank you!!
@MelissaCrafter3 жыл бұрын
hello 😊 Unfortunately no. Acyrlic Paint has no bonding qualities. You want to have a good base coat that will bond with the type of cup your using. The Base Coat is the most important part of your cup.

@@MelissaCrafter Could you add a couple of layers of Brite Tone then paint a character with acrylic?
@MelissaCrafter3 жыл бұрын
Yes you definitely can. You do want to make sure you have a good base like brite tone or spray paint before adding acrylic paint. After painting with acrylic paint though, wait a couple of days to allow the acrylic paint to fully dry. Acrylic paint dries very slow. I usually wait 24-48 hours. After it dries you can start sealing the painting with brite tone.

Is it necessary to seal the cup when selling the customized cups with vinyl ? I’m worried that the vinyl will come off during washes
@MelissaCrafter3 жыл бұрын
Its not necessary. if you use permanent vinyl it should be good. But sometimes... even if your using permanent vinyl.. you will get small pieces of your decal coming off. that's why when my decals have smaller pieces.. I like to seal them.

How many layers of crystallac do you use
@MelissaCrafter3 жыл бұрын
It depends on the type of cup I'm making. A cup with just vinyl can be anywhere from 4-6 coats. Fine glitter cups can be any from 6-9 coats and chunky glitter cups are around 10-14 coats
@yasmintrevino32343 жыл бұрын
Why do you sand before adding vinyl?
@MelissaCrafter3 жыл бұрын
To prep the cup. It roughens up the cup to give brite tone a good surface to adhere well to.
@valeriemoreno70533 жыл бұрын
I just started doing this but I don’t sand my cups I wasn’t aware of sanding the cup before adding vinyl. I made a cup already but it keeps peeing off after a while I use brite tone as well. Any ideas why it peels off?
@MelissaCrafter3 жыл бұрын
It could be the prep. Prepping is the most important step in the cup process. Sanding sets a good surface for brite tone to adhere well to . What was your cup process like & how long after the cup was done was it used/washed?
