Drew, how does your crew deal with seals when the frames are grouted? We drill the metal, then drill the concrete then the self drilling screw then repeat about 30 more times. Then we charge the customer about 3x more than what what we do for ungrouted/blocked out frames. It's rare for us to install grouted frames so we don't get the opportunity to block out for hardware. Maybe you have a better way.

We tell the customer they won’t work! 😆 jk. When we come across that I have found one way that usually works good. Typically we are using #6 size self drilling screw to attach. Believe it or not, you can go to install it just like normal, but as soon as it gets thru the metal stop it and pull the screw out. If u then cut the screw short, just a little bit longer than the seal so it can thread into the metal, u can use the same screw. I used lineman’s pliers or dykes to cut the screw. Doesn’t always work, but try it out and let me know if it works for u. It has worked for me many times.

Hey Drew, I've always installed my closers before the weatherstrip and cut around my closer bracket and panic strike. I know that I'm not getting a full seal but I have never gotten called out by an inspector or owner!

Yeah I’ve seen/done that too. I think mounting on top is easier when it’s this wide kind. I know a supplier who is so on top of all the details that he orders the doors with panics that get screw on seal with a 1/4” more backset so the seal can mount all the way first and then the roller latch on top of that. So many ways to do it and as long as customer and inspector are happy us installers are happy 😎 thanks for checking out the video.

Hey drew did you install mutes.
@drewinstallshardware7 ай бұрын
@@paulmaldonado3177 great question! If there were mute holes in the frame I would definitely want to install those before I start any of the screw on seals cause that will move where the door sits. This supplier we are working with on the project is awesome and only if mutes are specifically called for at an opening will he supply the frame with mute holes. Thanks for checking out the video! 😎
