First off, let me just say it is a dream fulfilled to hear you talk about Hexplorers Guide!!! Like so fucking cool! Second of all I would LOVE to work on the dragonbane project, lemme know what you’re thinking! Third of all…we gotta talk 😂 There is absolutely no cutting needed to make the zine, you should be able to print, fold, staple n have your own beautiful copy in 15 mins or less!! However, that means that I have failed in properly showcasing how to make the zine, so I shall take the blame. I’ll make a better instruction pdf ASAP!!

@@druidichabit9181 you did NOT fail - I absolutely ignored your easy to read instructions because I thought I could do it myself. Your instructions were PERFECT and I went slashing pages apart because I’m impatient

Video 23 (of 25) of me liking and then commenting on every new upload to lead the people to a Cy_Borg or Pirate Borg playthrough. It will be Cy_Borg. There has been ample time to vote and direction is clear. HOWEVER, the people want it doorless.

I think that saying to yourself "I'm trying to do 'X' but right now I'm doing 'Y'" is some of the best solo rpg advice I've ever heard. That's new to me. I know your supposed to always have a thing you're progressing towards but putting that practical knowledge to use with a simple check in statement is genius. Also that combat damage system sounds fantastic. I like how it's simple but makes sense. 1-3 damage makes it easy to quickly figure out how much damage a player should take on the fly. I haven't had the most luck playing ttrpgs solo but I like playing pen and paper games like Four against Darkness or Delve and just roleplaying between the procedures of the game.

One option regarding combat is to accept that combat is potentially deadly and to embrace that in your play style. Avoiding fighting a hoard of zombies is not the cowards way out, it's the smart thing to do.Even fighting small groups of zombies should be something only a trained martial character can comfortably do, because there is the very real threat that a wound can be fatal or debilitating. Telling the stories of the survivors, not the heros, can be a great change of perspective personal growth and exploration.

When i play this rpg i always houserule weapons to their basic terminology. Short blunt, short blade, long blunt, long blade, spear, axe. And guns by type. That way i can use anything as a weapon and quickly assign stats Started doing this when i rolled a character with a weapon and the book didnt list attributes for that weapon

Great video. When my characters die i usually just write down what happened afterwards then move on to something else and make a new story. I have just started a new game where i will be having a different approach and having a crew of characters to see how i enjoy it. With regards to armour in yze i played a few sessions and decided to just have armour remove dice from the attack pool. Normally 1,2 or 3. As i found this way smoother to implement.

I like to try to continue the story. In my last solo game (The Walking Dead oddly enough) my character died trying to save another person. So I upgraded my companion character to my new PC and the person the old PC died saving became the new companion character. The story is now, at least in part, about getting revenge for the original PC's killing.

@Jimalcoatl that's cool. It's how I'm trying my current game. I'm using Mothership, so my character has hired a contractor to assist them on a mission. Next mission I'll hire an extra 1 or 2 as he has the credits to. And should anything happen to my main character then ill do what you did and upgrade a contractor to the new main character until they get brutally eaten.

I wish I'd written down the comment I was going to make ~2 days ago, but I've watched it in installments over the last few days and have forgotten. Regardless, I enjoyed the video on two fronts! The first was that you sort of 'codified' something I already put into practice in my own games (well, two somethings - but I only remember the second one was around the 'I'm doing x but I want to do y' which is how I try to end any session if I think I might not come back to the game the next day - I just leave that note so I remember where I was/where I'm going). The second appreciation point is that I'm very interested in the Walking Dead game for solo and I'll definitely be referring back to this video whenever I eventually pick it up so I don't have to muddle through on my own trying to figure out how I want to deal with some of the soloing issues. So thanks a bunch!

i know I'm kinda late but your insights at around 01:15:20 is a mindset difference akin to the difference between (neo)trad and OSR play culture. where Trad id focused on the story of the characters individually and their development/impact; OSR's story tends to be more focused on the world itself and the character's part within it.. if i had to venture a guess the rason ou don't see a lot of haven/domain expansion rules anymore is because the PCs are individually a lot more impactful in the modern play style; don't need to command an army when you can just level it yourself kinda deal. Neither is wrong, just different types of stories. edit: PS just found your channel and it's convinced me to finally take the dive into solo play.. Starting with a handful of hexflowers and Tiny Dungeons 2e.

I would say that for solo play. You have 6 injuries that you can take after your 6 injuries are filled. You acquire a scar after you take a scar. It wipes your injuries clean, but scars require extensive surgery and give a disadvantage on certain attributes. . You can have 2 scars total after completing both scars, you end up with a severe wound. Severe wound means that you're down. Then that's when it would continue with the mechanics that the game came with.
@amanisalone
@amanisalone 2 ай бұрын
yeah I think this is actually a great idea, localizing the scars to singular attributes/skills (much like Dragonbane's conditions). Because a -2 on ALL of my skill rolls for WEEKS is devastating. TOO devastating!!
@SaintSolo
@SaintSolo 2 ай бұрын
@amanisalone exactly, if you wanted to you could roll for the attribute affected, this could add to the narrative of the injury

@@amanisalone I got the PDF for half that on Itch, but I'm planning on getting the premium print from Amazon. Quality-wise I think it's worth the investment, both in terms of mechanical design and presentation. The versatility and dynamic play that the card system is definitely worth discussing, and the sheer amount of content and player resources put into a single book makes it my recommendation over something like Iron Valley or Ryuutama.
