There was a shoot recently close to where I live and around 90 birds were taken down but then buried in the earth. I was absolutely livid when I heard about it (I guess you could say I was well plucked off). The very least they could have done was to give them to a butcher or a homeless shelter. If they had setup a market stall I reckon they could have sold the lot! Waste makes me angry. I really enjoyed your video. I have to admit that I have stood there for hours and plucked 2 birds but you have convinced me there is a much better way to do things so thank you so much for that, greatly appreciated.

You made it look possible. Your presentation of the process and the out come is excellent. I was so glad to see you skirting the meat to make it lovely. Thanks!

Hey Scott- Thanks for the video. I've used this the last couple years for my scout troop to show them how to clean and prepare pheasants. Very well done, easily explained. The guys really like it. You make it look very simple and your instructions are great. Your educating a new generation of youth on where their food comes from and how to prepare it. Thanks again. Wow, 17 min. to skin two pheasants, but removing the skin doesn't effect the tastiness of the bird, one thing i really like of chicken is the chicken skin, greasy in the soft parts that are nearer the meat and crispy on the outer parts of the skin, you're totally all PRO Scott, thumbs up, on to part 2 and 3 and thankin' our buddy slobomotion for the COOL Share!! =)

Scott, I came across your video by chance and you are the only person I know, yes, I know there must be others, other than me who skins a Pheasant. I plucked my first Pheasant and thought, there must be an easier less messy way and you show it excellently. I either pan fry them in various ways or roast them. Yes, a Pheasant can be dry but I just wrap them in smoked streaky bacon and that pretty much alleviates the problem. Keep on posting your videos, you have a new subscriber, just in case I get stuck with something and for new ideas.

Iain Campbell Many thanks Iain ,its much appreciated mate, some people turn there nose up when you skin a pheasant, but like i say, life's to short to pluck a pheasant, the odd one maybe, but if you have a few you would be there all day ,and i dont think it makes a difference cause there really is not a lot of fat under the skin,to help with the cooking anyhow, its more about the presentation, but we ent Michelin starred restaurants so its no problem .all the best .Scott

Great guide! I've prepared pheasant a half dozen times using this method and it's so straightforward. The one problem I've run into a few times is slicing the crop open when removing the head, which results in grain all over the place; not the end of the world, but a little annoying; any tips for avoiding the crop?

very late but... Those bones, carcass's and cut offs, could or do you use them to make stock? I very much like the idea of using the animal to the fullest, and making stock or soup (if you have four or more birds) might be a good way of getting the last out of the animals sacrifice.

Thanks Scott. Started pheasant beating last season, I was given loads of birds but never found an easy way of preping them. Plucking just ended up with the kitchen covered in feathers. Eventually resorted to just taking of the thighs and legs, which wastes quite a bit of each bird. You method looks much more effective. Are you or have you done a video on preping rabbit?
