Would love to se him do all that preparation of the wing in actual strong wind. It would certainly not lay still for him to muck around like that.

Looks about 7 knots there. I watched someone practicing this technique and they got a line over immediately that turned into a crevat. The wing got messy and in strong wind, they could have launched involuntarily. Which would not have been good. My strong wind technique is to go the pub and have a beer. 😉

This look like something somebody who did a lot would be real slick at and somebody who is just a big fat slob like me better fly nice.

Lots of armchair experts/pilots here. The guy obviously has a ton of experience & I'm sure he's got this technique down well. Would like to see a second clip where he launches his tandem from a busy take off in strong, gusty wind.

From personal experience , using the big ears is good for strong lift situations when you want to stay on the ground but it's bad to take off in strong winds as you generate a huge amount of drag which prevents you from penetrating, you end up pushed back.
@markmcgoveran6811 Жыл бұрын
If you start down the hill lower can you sometimes outfly that failure to penetrate?
@TitusIV Жыл бұрын
@@markmcgoveran6811 Absolutly, because by taking off lower on the hill, the wind is usually weaker but most importantly it's the area where the wind is converted the most into lift, so less push back. So essentially, that put's you directly in the lift and if you take off in the lift, you are removing the need to penetrate it in the first place :P. but to be honest, the big ears are best used to land. In strong winds, to top land, I've often had to pull on them 2-3 meters passed the take off to account for the drag and push back I get. It's also great for landing in narrow landings, if you overshoot you can quickly adjust your height without doing Ss'. Note everything I'm saying is mainly based on dynamic winds, not thurmeling.

That’s not strong wind. We have strong winds in Tasmania and if you tried that technique you’d be dragged through a fence long before fluffing your wing. Maybe he could clarify what wind range he has in mind.

If you have too much wind in Oludeniz, you go to Hamam Turkish Bath than a few beers at Cloud 9 Bar. Thats all.

This is a really excellent process overview! I fly a paramotor and don't often fly in higher winds, but sometimes I do. I'm going to try this process, even with my huge 31m MacPara charger, and see how it goes. The outer A wrapping does worry me a bit, but the description makes sense -- it won't really have any load on it, since you're pulling big ears on the ground. Thanks for a very well explained video!

What is the advantage of this methode above cobra? This method takes quite Some preparation, seems harder to control and you have to know quite exactly how much of the a s you have to wrap and also do it exactly equal…?

Great stuff Love it! What is the vrand of your wing? I am trying to find a black paraglider for so long! I would love to know the brand that can make it. Thanks!

We fly frequently with 35km/h it’s possible if you dont have thermic gust or mountains that create turbulence.

I'll have to give that a go. Different with my wing has a big ears kit so no need to wrap fingers. I love that black beauty!! Anyone know what it is? "W" something.

That is my wing, a Mac Para Eden 7 with custom colours. ;) The instructor used my wing for demo. He weighs 79 kilos and the weight limit for my wing is between 90 and 115 kilos.

What Calin does not know about paragliding is probably not worth knowing. Especially about acro.

Too much fuzz. Check the wing once in lee somewhere, mushroom it and take it to takeoff. Open the leading edge slightly in the center. Use center A lines to pull it up from the bunch and go. Use C lines to kill the wing if you want to abort. Simple.
@Paiadakine8 ай бұрын
I actually like this idea. Places where I fly don’t allow you to fix the glider in a shape like the instructor does here. The wind would blow the glider around while he puffs the glider up. I like your idea. And I like this instructors brush up idea for the lines. Will have to practice.

Hey kids: Quick little tip. If you want to maintain your bodily integrity and not be dragged like a ragdoll DO NOT DO THIS! especially in strong winds. The more you know

Lol this won't work at all in 15 mph wind.

Also it would probably cut your finger clean off.

This is never going to work and could be very dangerous to try. You are never going to be setting up the wing like this in strong winds to start with.

taking off in strong wind (about 30km/h) dosen't seem necessary at all Anyway really fun seeing everyone in the background try it after first demo 😂
