There's a lot of information out there about studying for coding interviews, but very little of it focuses on the frontend. In this video, I will describe a bit of what to expect in a frontend coding interview and give some practical tips to study for them.

Great information bro...Again in every interview JS plays the major role. Especially in front end interview DOM manipulation will be the key as you said. And some companies asks bootstrap also it depends upon their requirements. Once again a good video from conner. Thanks buddy..👌👌

That's right Conner. Honestly the Frontend ecosystem is sometimes overwhelmed because of all those topics that cover, and it's not about memorize everything (that's impossible), but having the fundamentals is what makes the difference in those interviews. Thanks for covering these topics, right now I'm preparing for an interview in one big tech company. 💪🏼

Great video thanks alot! Would you recommend studying Data structures and Algorithms? Cause they by far would be the most time consuming part of any developer's study plan for interviews
@ConnerArdman
@ConnerArdman Жыл бұрын
Yes, you'll almost definitely still see data structure and algorithm interviews even as a frontend engineer. In fact, at most big companies you'll probably see more of these than frontend specific interviews. At the end of the day, frontend engineers are software engineers first and frontend specialists second.

Can you make a video of how can someone know when they are ready to apply for jobs in tech?

I’m not sure if I’d have enough to say about this to make it a whole video, but here’s my $0.02: - No need to reject yourself, let the companies decide. Be comfortable with failing interviews and you never know what you might pass. - Practically speaking, you should be able to at least comfortably solve “easy” problems on AlgoExpert (or whatever platform you prefer). Your goal however should be to be able to comfortably solve mediums without hints and some hards. That’s the point where I’d say you have a good chance. - It depends a lot by level/role. For instance, the bar for interns is lower than new grads, who have a lower bar than senior engineers.

Hello, Conner! First of all, thank you for sharing your thoughts! You are a true inspiration for me! I was curious what books are there behind you on the shells? Maybe this could be a topic for the next video of yours. Keep up the good work!

Thanks! I might make a video on books at some point, but honestly I haven’t read anything in at least 6 months. Most of those books behind me are nonfiction biographies, or they are about software development, business, or personal development. A few of my favorites back there would be Shoe Dog, Zero To One, and Flow 😀

@@ConnerArdman looking at the video there seem to be quite a few cuts. It doesn't harm the viewer exprience or anything but probably takes a lot of time to edit. Is it mostly because you need to edit out silences and "bad takes"?
@ConnerArdman
@ConnerArdman Жыл бұрын
This is mostly just a stylistic choice. I personally find videos with more cuts a lot easier to watch than completely static ones. Some of the cuts are just between takes or around mess ups, because I don’t record the whole video at once. But the majority are just to keep the video engaging and to control the pacing.

How do you know if you are ready to change your current company?
@ConnerArdman
@ConnerArdman Жыл бұрын
That’s really a personal decision that changes for everyone. For me, here’s what I consider: - Can I get a significant pay raise elsewhere, all else equal? If so, probably time to leave or bring this up with management. - Is there a once in a lifetime opportunity elsewhere? If so and I can afford the risk, go for it. - Am I enjoying my work and excited to do my work, or is it feeling like an 8 hour chore? - Am I consistently learning and improving, or do I feel “stuck”? The last two points are really subjective, and also are things that can potentially be improved without switching jobs, but I’d use them as general flags of when to consider some kind of change.

I have deep knowledge of reactjs, but I'm scared to go to an interview, because my english is not good
@ConnerArdman
@ConnerArdman Жыл бұрын
A good practice technique that might help you is as you practice try explaining what you are doing out loud in English. Hopefully over time that will help you get more comfortable with it. Also, I don’t think the bar for “good” English is as high as you might expect. Just from your comment, I can tell you definitely know enough English. No need to let the language barrier hold you back. Worse case, you fail an interview. Best case, you land a life-changing job. 👊😀

All interviews are the same. And possible to rack down any candidate. Because FE is huge! But people who lead tech interviews pay attention to anything, closure, var/let/const, some another book stuff, but not about FE actually. It was 10 years ago, 5 years ago, even today is still relevant ;)

I'm actually not sure what I'm looking at there lol, but I keep the script/notes on my phone and look at it between takes. I had tried it off to the side like that a while back, but it was way too hard to not look at constantly.
