@@KristenWaldorf Maybe a video on dosage calculation for new students.(simple and easy way) 🤷♀️We will have an exam on dosage calculation literally on the first day of school and have to pass with at least a 95 to stay in the program. 🥺I’m just all over the place. Trying to review my Anatomy and Physiology textbooks and studying for dosage calculations..☹️
@ErinAshley-qu6xk Жыл бұрын
I start nursing school this September and I just want to say that it's not a bad idea to get a Dosage Calc book or resource of some kind to practice and brush up on math skills if for example you're like me and are not going into nursing school right after high school. I also was terrible at math and have ADHD, so I am finding that it is likely going to be helpful to try and get a head start on it. Another thing someone could start on early is Anatomy and Physiology , especially if it has been a while since you last did biology or have never taken a health care prep program or course prior to applying to nursing school. Med math is one of those things in nursing schools that you HAVE to pass and be very good at in order to continue to the next semester. I'm in Ontario, Canada and I have heard from RN's I work with in long term care that they had to get 100% on their med math final in order to pass their class.

Hi Kristen I was out of school for about 1.5 years, studied for my TEAS and passed with advanced scores. I got accepted into nursing school. I am now extremely nervous and would love a little bit of guidance before I start this fall. You mentioned not to study before school, but do you think it would be helpful review the basics? (being that I was out of school for so long) Also, I work full-time. What do you recommend as far as balancing school and work? I would greatly appreciate your suggestions, and look forward to hearing back from you!
@KristenWaldorf2 жыл бұрын
Hey Angela!! Congrats on getting accepted into nursing school ☺️ I would say that if you want to study, Focus on anatomy and physiology. I wouldn’t recommend really studying anything else because you’re going to learn everything you need to know in nursing school. As for working full-time and being in school full-time I would say stay as organized as you can and don’t fall behind in school work. Once you fall behind that’s when you won’t have enough time to catch up. you will have to prioritize studying and putting time into school, so you will have to sacrifice missing out on certain things (but it is only temporary). Definitely invest in a good planner and use that daily to keep up with your work. I would say focus on school work a couple hours each day and then of course take one full day off, so you don’t get burnt out. I hope this helps, feel free to reach out anytime!

Hi Amie! Congrats on your acceptance into school 😀 such a great accomplishment. I decided to wait till I moved back home to apply and take the NCLEX in Florida. It was just easier and saved me money. Florida is also a part of the multistate license where Illinois was not. But you can get your license in the state you go to school and just reapply to your home state too. Either choice is a good option, just depends on cost and the situation. I hope this helps!

Hi La’Darah! Thank you so much 😄 Oh wow $1200... my program was $600 for the book bundle, but I rented the books that I used more often from Amazon. @KristenWaldorf3 жыл бұрын
Hey Timiya! Nursing school can be scary and overwhelming at first. I know once you find your groove, it will become more of a routine for you. When it comes to A&P my teachers did a great job reviewing the body systems before teaching a new topic, but if for some reason I didn’t understand something, I turned to youtube for review videos on the concepts I was learning. Registered nurse RN on youtube does a great job reviewing the anatomy in her review videos too, so that’s a person you could look into before nursing school. If there is anything I learned from nursing school, you know the material! Just keep telling yourself and build on that confidence. You will do great, just stay organized and on top of your schedule. Good luck in your first semester and of course feel free to ask any questions 😄

Hi Kelli! Do you mean like process behind moving states? I just found an apartment and went through the whole process of being accepted and then I had a move in date. Since I was a student, my residency was still in my home state. I didn’t take much with me but a car full of things and purchased items when I got up there. Once I moved back home, I sold the furniture. If you want to move states, you will have to go through the DMV to get established in that state. I don’t know how long that would take..

Kelli Harrison Ohhhh 😂😂 my bad. Nope I went to school in the midwest and I applied to the Florida board of nursing for my license. I’m not sure how other states work, but as long as you went to an approved school under Florida Statue, you can apply in this state and sit for your NCLEX. I would suggest to look into the state you are considering getting licensed in and see what the requirements are and if the school you are going to out-of-state is accepted. I know students from my program applied to other states for their license as well.

I very clueless about what I have to do to prepare for University and watching KZbins based on this Is so overwhelming as everyone says it’s hard and stressful. Despite all that I still do want to become a registered nurse as It gives me all the opportunities to help and care for others. However, I have a really hard time understanding science which is the main reason that’s scaring me from becoming a nurse. I do not have any problem with maths but science is the most difficult one for me and I don’t know where to start to learn. Thank you very much....

Nursing school is one of the hardest things I’ve done in my life so far, but it is MANAGEABLE. All you have to do is stay organized and keep up with the work and be responsible. Many students in my program had no science background and they did just fine. I hope this helps 😄 I think my biggest recommendation is recognizing your learning style so you know how you learn best which makes it easier for you to grasp the information. You will not only be memorizing, but also have to understand concepts which is a little different than learning in high school.
