This was really interesting. Don't se many videos on how one successful Spartan runner pulls off his or her training. Don't hesitate to do more of these kind of videos. I mean you gotta do something for the arms and core I recon. More than you show here!😀

This is not specifically related to the workout, but it relates to doing a Spartan. As a black woman, what do you do with your hair during the race as far as the mud? Lol This may sound silly to others, but I'd really like to know since my first race is coming up shortly... and who better to ask, as I don't see many of us doing the Spartans. Thanks for your time, Sis. 😊

great question! For my first race, I had a TWA and just left it out (washing it was super easy). For the second one, I had a relaxed pixie cut and just pinned it down with bobby pins. For the other 3, I had either faux locs or box braids and put them in 2 corn rows and immediately washed/cleansed my scalp after the race until I was back in town to take it out. That provided the most protection because My actual hair was not really exposed to the mud, except my new growth. BUT I have seen girls with shower caps ( wouldn't recommend). Depending on how big your hair is, maybe try swim cap?
@erikacaesar58315 жыл бұрын
@@Quay_juhh Thanks so much for the fast reply! Currently, I have a unit, but I'll look for the swim cap option and no unit for race day.

Great Question! I have locks. When I started racing my locks went down to my waist. So I just tied it up and dealt with it. It also meant hours of washing and drying after the race. Then I stared racing in Age Group. I cut my locks to shoulder length and I stopped doing as many of the “mud runs” (about 3 times a year). Now I concentrate on doing Stadion races - No Mud. Just an aside ... There, unfortunately, are not many people of color doing these kind of sports - almost none in the top 20 or elite. I am past my prime to try and be one of the few colored elite racers but me and two other “brothers” certainly took our place as 1st, 2nd (me), and 3rd in our Age Group ... and that’s a start. I am trying get some of my younger relatives interested. I am priming my grandson to follow in my footsteps and beyond! 😀👍🏼 Keep Racing!! AROO!

I've been looking for videos on this as part of the training/ preparation for the race. I'm working myself up to be prepared attempt one of these but the thought of my sensitive skin/allergies and what to do with all this hair has me trying to figure out a solution. Thanks🙏🏾

Great video. I hope you did well at the race. I agree with agetori77. A few of the hanging/swinging obstacles are done best with bent arm. By the way, where did you get your sandbag? I also train for the Bucket Carry. I have a bucket that I filled with gravel and I walk outside on a trail (I much prefer running/walking/jogging outside on a wood trail than on a treadmill or flat pavement). You Go Grrll! AROO!!

@Quay_juhh5 жыл бұрын
They are required for competitive, but not the open.

im doing my first super and trail next month and in training on my own right now...do they allow you to wear gloves for grips? thank you for this video very helpful...im not a fit guy but i can hang with it..lol
@Quay_juhh5 жыл бұрын
rastakim16333 yes you can wear gloves. I’ve done some with and without gloves. I prefer without them if you have good grip strength. If your hands are sweaty or wet from water, just rub them in the grass/dirt
@rastakim163335 жыл бұрын
@@Quay_juhh thank you so much for the reply...the first time you tried spartan, what was the hard part for you? so i could brace myself for the worse...im confident with my endurance and legs but not my arms strength..thats what im working right now....so if you miss a obstacle? you do 30 burpees?
