There are some similar species worldwide, but geoduck specifically is the world’s largest burrowing clam, abundant in the inland waters of the Pacific Northwest. The body meat, when sliced, pounded and sautéed just resembles abalone. In this sushi tutorial, it demonstrates how to prepare geoduck for sushi and sashimi to take advantage of its freshness.

if the pronunciation is the original then i'm bothered by the modern spelling 😀who decided that spelling? it almost makes sense on it's own like geo could mean earth and duck...hmm ok that's still weird. why the "ck" if it's not meant to reference the animal duck. maybe guiduk is better (though seeing it i might call it "gwee-duck") gooey looks too silly for an animal name unless its main feature is that it's gooey.
