I think asking us to go back onto our rooftop twice a year is a level of maintenance that is too dangerous for most of us. I'm not going to risk broken bones over this thing. If it belongs on the roof, it should have been made to withstand the elements of all seasons.

Your satellite mount idea was great. I mounted mine to the already installed mount with the supplied pole and it's working great but I'm in Ohio and occasionally it can get to minus Temps but the roof thing AGAIN and the REMAPPING thing AGAIN? Think I'll take my chances?

I'm sure it'll be fine

In Michigan it can get really cold (negative temperatures), so I'll definitely store the Luba in the original box in the garage. My garage usually doesn't get too cold though because it's attached to the house. I don't have a cover for my RTK, but I did put multi-year silicon around all of the possible openings which should hopefully save it when it's outside on the roof. The charging station will go in the garage as well and I'll wrap and tape the open outdoor connectors to avoid corrosion. Next summer we can all meet here in the comment section to see how all of the storage plans worked. :)

Wait a minute. Are they saying, in order to save my maps, RTK has to be plugged in all winter? Or just not move? I'm not going to be happy if I have to remap every spring! I'm grateful though that I didn't have a ladder to install above the garage, and instead, opted to elevate the RTK against my deck using 2" PVC pipe and a zip tie! 👍 Works great!

As long as the RTK doesn't move you don't have to remap. All lubas mapping is based on that centralized point

Have you seen the hookii neomow x ? Was wanting a Luba before but couldn’t ever it get shipped , was a backer of hookii but got scared of the kickstarter not being 100 percent but anyways would love to see what your take on it is .

My scenario is that the charging station has the RTK Reference tower attached to the base. I was planning on removing the tower and charging station to inside the garage along with Luba (I have two Luba robot so my winter prep is double...LOL) So am I understanding correctly, if I replace the RTK tower and charging station(s) in the same location next mowing season, will it remember the already programmed maps? If I had the RTF Reference tower mounted on a wall, for example, then I would cover it and leave it out until next spring, but since it's attached to the base of the charging station, I feel that it might be best to clean and store everything in the garage. Is this correct? THANKS for your time invested in this channel.

You are correct, If you replace it in exactly the same spot your maps will be okay next spring. The first time you run it You may watch it very closely on its first perimeter pass to make sure everything's lined up the same. If it hits the perimeter perfect you know you're okay If it does stupid stuff you know you need to delete your map and remap.

@@Crazypostman Thanks...your input is very much appreciated. Next mowing season I have another brand of robot mower coming for another piece of my property, and hope that it's a simple process to winterize it for the season.

They have though about several scenarios which is helpful. What I reacted most to is the information about the RTK unit not withstanding colder temperatures than -20c even when powered off. I really hope that’s just to be safe otherwise us Swedes are f**ed.. I’m not climbing back on the roof.
