I Drive my 94 mustang GT 5spd in the harsh northern canadian winters. Always black ice with a few inches of snow on the road, we have around 4 feet of snow built up this year. My mustang with hakkapeliitta R5s out preforms my 1999 4wd ranger that had all seasons. Snow tires are a game changer

Super solid tips Jake. Another thing I like to do on my vehicles is use fluid film or woolwax. It's a greasy spray that you apply to the entire underside and suspension of the vehicle and really helps keep roads salt off of your nice stuff. Come spring time you can use degreaser and pressure wash it off, or leave the remaining product on as an extra layer next year.
@jake_spence2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jerry! I've heard of WoolWax before, but never used it myself. I should definitely look into doing that next year...

Only thing more I would recommend is bringing a shovel! Sometime you don't have the clearance, so shoveling away the snow helps!

Here's one CHECK THE AIR IN YOUR SPARE TIRE. My wife called me with a flat, so when I arrived to change it the spare tire was flat. I hadn't checked it since I bought the car in 2013. Also if you're ordering a Bimmer Street Hoodie order it 2 sizes larger than normal because they aren't American measurements. I never drive my Beamer in the winter, that's what that Pontiac Vibe is for.🤣😆😊
@jake_spence2 жыл бұрын
That's a good suggestion, never thought of it because BMW's don't have spare tires lol. And thanks for the feedback on the hoodie, I felt they fit a bit smaller too. I will update the description on the website. If you need a different size or something, let me know!

My BMW is winter ready. But winters here in Holland are minus 6 Celcius, so no big deal. But I run winter tires anyway because the summer Michelins cannot hold up under the colder temperatures. My coolant is at minus 26 Celsius. What coolant do you guys run in these cold winter States? I saw your answer on IG but I still don't know. Have a fantastic Christmas, with Eileen and your loved ones. Dutch regards, Nico.
@jake_spence2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Nico! Hope all is well with you this holiday season as well. I use the standard BMW coolant, but there are others that work well too. As long as you use something good, it should not freeze.

I agree the general altimax tires are good, especially for the price. But if you dont mind spending a bit more the Michelin x ice and Bridgestone blizzaks are the best.
@jake_spence2 жыл бұрын
I've had Blizzaks and would choose the Altimax Arctics over them 10x
@DJ-sr9yq2 жыл бұрын
@Jake Spence did you have both sets on the same car? Maybe the car you have the blizzaks on just wasn't as good in the snow. I went from general altimax to blizzaks wso8 and they were noticeably better from my experience. I'm a mechanic I get the opportunity to drive a lot of different cars with different winter tires. I'm not trying to discredit your experience or opinion. Just curious.

Hi, my car sits low but is not AWD. Do I have to elevate the car to install snow chains. I tried to do it without lifting it, but so far after many hours I could not do it. I think the fact that it is always an upward angle and cold as hell in the mountains does affect. Thank you.

Greecing your hub??????? I learned that you DO NOT want to put ANY greece there since you destroy the metal to metal friction. you only clean those surfaces with a brush. Greecing this could result in your bolts/lugs to break while doing a burnout or under hard braking, since half the force is normaly absorbed by the friction between those metals.

buy rust converter, lower tire pressures, don't drive it, especially in salt.

Hey, Quick question. You seem very knowledgeable on all things N54. I’m currently in the market for an E90 335i, and I was wondering, should I be looking at lower mileage ones like I would for any other car, or are the higher mileage ones the way to go. I can’t remember where, but I heard that higher mileage generally means that all of the maintenance was done on it, but I plan on getting it done before I do anything to the car. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Also, I too am a Wisconsin boy! Got me excited when I stumbled across and older video and saw your “60 Roll” plate on the 135i!
