Ohmygosh!!!! Thank you thank you!! I've been doing this for last 2 months since I watched your video and my avocados lasted longer. I used to freeze them but a fresh avocado always taste better... yummy🙂😊. If anyone don't believe this works do a test, leave one avocado out on counter and one avocado in refrigerator like video says and see which one last longer. Thank you again😊👍

I recently discovered this method on my own! My avocados kept going bad before I could finish them, and I realized that if I put them in the fridge as soon as they turn black, (as you showed here, when they become just a tiny bit soft), they'll keep for weeks! I don't personally put them in a bag, just on the shelf, and it works beautifully! Thanks for sharing this technique! ✌

Excellent information we are trying it for sure. We bought a bag of 5 at Costco and then they all ripen at the same time. Today they were ripe so we had one in salad and put the other 4 in a bag in the refrigerator and will see. This is great!!

It always worked for me. Once it felt just a little soft put it in the refrigerator right away. Let it ripen slowly in the refrigerator. Remember to make sure the stem is intact when u buy those avocados. I started to place them in a cloth bags. Avoiding plastics.

Great advice thanks for the video. Word to the wise, I used to remove the pit that way. One day the knife slipped and I sliced open my hand. I almost lost my pointing finger because I cut some important cables floating around in there. That was 10 years ago and I still have a scar on my hand from it. Totally crazy, never would have thought it would happen to me

@eastwestpicayune82003 жыл бұрын
If you have a tree, you maybe able to refrigerate the green ones and let it ripen as you need them. These avocados are imported to us unripe refrigerated. I have notice that sometimes they are very cold when I get them at the stores. Keep me posted.

It is a good idea to save and use the avocado seed (or nut). It can be ground and added to rolled oats or rice prior to cooking. It is a very nutritious component of the avocado fruit.

Thank you! I hate freezing avocados so I buy about 4 and munch, then run back to the store... with this covid thing, there was a *run on avocados!* People who rarely ate them bought dozens, and apparently _complained that they didn't last long_ (turned into clay-like grey mush). 😼 *GOOD!* Restock, I went ahead about bought a few extra, and tried the lemon juice, the onion, etc preserving methods, but they didn't really help. Once you cut it open, it's eat or toss. So I like this method! It makes sense, too! I hope I can get 2 weeks out of this method... we'll see!

@@eastwestpicayune8200 I will never freeze an avocado again! That ruins them anyway. This tip was so great, I've started waiting to pick up the "on sale" avocados that are ready to eat, LOL (79 cents/each! YES!). I've been timing this thing for months now.That baggie, and making sure each avocado in wrapped securely like you show, I've consistently gotten up to *5 weeks easy* and after the last few weeks of testing, they'll make it to 6 weeks if you don't mind a few streaks of brown (not the "rotted look", but the outer edge streaks that are easy to scrape away). Important thing I learned: it's not hard to wrap these *as shown,* but each avocado has to be in its own "baggie space" and not touching another avocado, like through a hole in those bags. (For anyone curious, plastic wrap DOES NOT WORK at all! I don't know why. It's is fine to cover an exposed half to eat later that day, of course, but plastic wrap won't replace the freebie vegetable baggies shown in this video). *I now grab a few extra baggies at the store* so I have some on hand, in case I rip my baggie. (I consume MANY avocados 😂 ) Thank you. People think I'm having guac parties and I tell them this tip: 6-8 avocados on sale, I'm GOOD. And I'm not stuck buying pricey "new" avocados at 1.29 per, and waiting a few days for them to ripen. I buy *RIPE!* And *CHEAP!* No more tasteless junk "frozen" avocados EVER again. (YUCK I hate frozen avocado. It's like rubber.) ❤️️👍🙏
