I found the cheat code to this. I cut my front locs into bangs like Swae Lee when he had dreads. And I never put my bangs's into my ponytail so they always stay down and never get pulled on. And that way I also hide my tape line so I don't need to get lineups in the front. I just get my sides and back faded when I go to the barber. I'm protecting my hairline and bitches love my bangs 🤣

I highly recommend y’all listen to him. I started out with a full head of locs in 2012 and with constant retwisting and line ups, I ended up with a pushed back hairline and a high top fade by 2022. It was a tough decision to make but I decided to cut off my locs this June. I’m getting them reattached next month with some extensions to fill my head back up. dude i came to this conclusion a while ago. fucc line ups. i have semi free form dreads and i have a natural thick and decently straight hair line. I realized i don't constantly need a line up for my hair to look good. and i have been loving not needing to go to a barber. look at models like luka sabbat and lenny kravitz they have long dreads with no taper or lineups, and it looks so good on them. black people are the main ones that focus so heavy on needing a lineup 24/7.

I think it’s important to tell your barber to not dig into your locs. Specify where they need to cut it down and where to stop. Many barbers dig into the locs on the edges causing this.

I dont really get linups, maybe every two months, but i do the same style every month like lil durk before the wicks i also have a tapered linup, and i noticed that my two strand dreads sit right on the corners of my hair line and directly on top of my 90 degree side lines, in the last 2 months ive realized that im thinning in the corners and on one side my side hairl line is balding and puahing back, i think this is due to the friction from my locs to on the hair directly under theem. Anyone experiancing this? I want to just lose the style all together and try leaving my locs in a pony tail or just off my hairline tbh to see if itll grow back

In hindsight, watching this video now, would’ve been more helpful about four years ago. I was literally doing all of the things he said not to do and because of my ignorance, I lost a lot of locks around my sideburns and nape areas. When I initially had my locks started, I had a full head of lox. Now, I’ve lost about a quarter of my logs primarily in those areas aforementioned. So for those who are on the fence, especially regarding getting lineups, I advise from experience get your re-twist first, then your lineup. Please.

I cut my full set off completely actually! That was my set from college and HS. I chose the hightop the second time because of the versatility. My hair is super thick. (95 locs and not even using half my head!😅) When I had a full set, I couldnt wear hats, couldn’t do pineapples or ponytails, it just seemed limiting. Those things wouldn’t prevent me from getting them today but it was definitely my reason for starting em. That and the growing number of folks that gave me the confidence to grow them as hightops. Prior to Killmonger, there weren’t many depictions of hightop lockers in mainstream! Seeing him, dynasty tv, Gunther and all those guys with em, inspired me to try them! Glad I did! Feel like it’s the best of both worlds in one!

And seriously line ups are a no go for locs. The back of mine were thinning from my barber cutting too much into sections that were apart of them so now I just let my hairline grow and trim it down

@TPlocks
@TPlocks Жыл бұрын
Over washing can definitely dry your hair - resulting in drying and breaking but under washing can cause issues as well. Anytime I wash, i replenish the hair with some oils and moisture.

Thanks fam! Nah not really! I think my hair is prone to a lot of shrinkage though. I have a tight 4c hair texture mostly! I never really get to see the length until I shower and the weight of the water helps it stretch to its max length. After wash day, it’s kept in a bonnet most of the time. When you all see it, it’s usually just coming out the head cover! 😅 Dry and all. 😅

I think you have the order reversed. I think preserve your edge hairs first then locks. If you do it the other way around excess tension and receding hairline might occur. Like in this other video you posted: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fWHClGx9gcibmqM Saving one hairline at a time 🙂 Love your content though! I just got my hair locked a couple of weeks ago. And yes I gave myself a clean edge up beforehand so those baby hairs weren't incorporated in the lock.

Nah see that video I was definitely the problem. 😅😅I explained in that video that I should have let the loctician know I had an excess taper and to leave some excess. THEN after she parted it and retwisted, the barber would just cut up the extra! When you go to the barber they don’t have a clue where your taper line hair ends and your loc new growth begin. Even if you tell them, they have a hard time being accurate. The loctician is usually a bit better with that when you tell them. In most instances the barber ends up cutting some of your loc new growth. When you leave the chair everything looks fine, but then you got to your loctician for the twist and you’re wondering why your line is fresh but one of them front locs is randomly skinnier and on its way out. Lol That’s just been my experience tho. I say do whatever works best for you at the end of the day! Ultimately there could be some skilled barbers who could do it right if you know them! I’m in a new city! I ain’t risking it no more!! Lol

There's dudes who get lined up everyday of their life and never lose their hairline, it's called genetics, in my family there's like 3 guys with hair in their older age and 2 of them are father and son, that other is my cousin. I started losing my hair at around 20 something and I barely ever got my hair cut because I always had a big head and just didn't like my hair cut so me losing my hair was due to genes not because of haircuts now I take keeps and my hairline is literally all the back I have more hair now than I had at 25. Cutting your hair has nothing to do with growth unless you damage the hair follicle you'll be fine, just check your genes if every dude in your family is bald there's a 90 precent chance you'll be bald too. If you're dad has hair and so do the men on your mother's side you'll be fine. Cutting your hair isn't going to make you bald

I never said at any point lineups are the only reason this happens. I mentioned multiple ways this can occur. Including genetics in this AND prior videos…Of course genetics cause this as well…That doesn’t negate that this happens alllll the time because of what was stated in this video.

@@TPlocks all im saying is lineups dont do shit unless you have a bad barber destroying your hair every cut, most of the time why men lose their hair is because of genetics, after you said that haircut line i just made my comment and bounced i didnt even finish the video once you started off of the wrong i didnt even bother hearing the rest, not trying to offend because you're just making content doing what you love but still getting your cut in most cases wont affect your hairline
