What is amazing is how this gets drilled into players. It's all very complicated but I guess they work on it so much that they don't even have to think about it

I have a similar preference for this 4231 halfspace trap. I feel it’s the least risky option since you don’t have to leave spare men in the cover shadow. I liked the triggered press on their FB to ballfar CB pass creating a 1v1 blast with our ballfar winger, maybe not near their goal but from midblock where this pass is attempted more. I don’t love leaving fullbacks open in a covershadow but that’s the pass to do it on! To me, the pressing options are 1. Half space vertical pass trap 2. “Heavy metal” 1v1 from a CAM minding his covershadow. Note: I’ve had to use this from 4231 as a plan B vs back3 systems. 3. CDM pass through a Staggered line trap (I’ve always said diagonal line) 4. 2v1ing the fullback on the sideline aka the Liverpool (more common from 433 and 4321) Really liked your blindside 2v1 on the horizontal fullback to CDM pass. I’ll have to reflect and experiment with it. To me, the next step in all of this is creating a framework to seamlessly use multiple presses in the game. My teams have always just used one main press with a planB option but I wonder if there’s a way to add more??! More complex and riskier as you said in the house of cards metaphor so the system has to have user friendly triggers for players to read

i think you kinda know where you are at with all this, i know from your previous msgs you have a very good footballing head on your shoulders....the only consideration for me would be what age group are you working with, what capacity do they have to take on more complexities and do they actually need it ....if you work with academy players for example and the goal is to produce players who have a pathway into a professional setting then why not expose them to as many complexities as possible providing they are not overwhlemed and stretched too far by it....they need it, the modern player needs to be more flexible and adaptable than ever (esp when managers last 12 months in a job and as such they will have new managers to work with on a regular basis, as well as the game becoming more fluid) ...but as always I always app your comments, you make me think at the same time and I like that..so thank you :-)

The Inverted Fullback I’m working with u18 club players so they should be able to handle the complexity but I guess I just need to experiment with how they respond to having multiple press options. Thanks for the vids, there’s always a detail that I learn something new. And getting ideas out in these comments helps me develop a lot of ideas. I haven’t yet found a good place for tactical discourse on the net so I really engage with a few content creators and local coaches

So much good stuff in this video and yes I love the blindside 2v1 fullback to CDM strategy.... MindStrike, can you elaborate more on you point 2,3,4 and above?

I might be outdated but I like my #7 or 11 to cut the 1st pass option on a WB and trap the CD into having to dribble into the axis of the pitch into my #10. If you can regain possession from this 1v1 or on the next pass, u have a #9 waiting in all alone behind or max 1v1 against the last defender.. feedback?
@mindstrike6728
@mindstrike6728 3 жыл бұрын
I like this one too but you got to have your #10 keep their CDM in the covershadow. Man City used to do this from 4141 but they changed this year to a 442 set up where the two strikers start narrow to block the keeper to cdm pass then the ballnear striker presses the CB in that same 1v1 from before as the ballstriker drops to the CDM. I’m not sure why they went this variation on that classic inside out 1v1

an approach i've taken in 4-3-3 formations many a time Maxine (nothing old fashioned about it...this approach is especially useful if you know the CBs like to drive out and are a little suspect on the ball...why wouldn't you do that in that circumstance? I do feel as though the modern CB is ore assured on the ball and they are becoming better equipped (at higher levels of player anyway) so its something that probably needs tailoring to the opposition (unless you are so dominant that you don't need to concern yourself with the opp) ...love the comment and the feedback..thank you kindly for engaging :-)

If you drop your high defensive line back because of long balls behind it, you will make a big gap between the defensive line and midfield line. How can you control this gap? May be by staggering the two cms?
@glen130182
@glen130182 3 жыл бұрын
that is exactly how i handle it, 1 cdm is assigned to be triggered by the long ball and be reactive for the 2nd ball, allowing 1 to go and apply pressure and the other to bridge the gap so to spea

Great content. In my opinion what is missing is the interchange of who starts..the #9 and #10 need to be interchangeable if the #9 is on the wrong side to begin the press. I am assuming this is what you do in that scenario? If not what do you do?

4 2 3 1 press........it is possible to shift to 4 4 2 diamond. When is ball played to cb the striker put pressure. One of the winger put pressure on other cb. Then the midfielder on that side move to cm position. Other cm move to defen midfielder position.With that rotation its diamond in central zone. Key of this way is 2:1 on ofensive midf if opponent play in 4 2 3 1

Why not I d8nt believe football is a one shoe fits all Ultimately it's never about right or wrong strategies its about what works vs what doesnt Try it and let me know if it works for you Let me know if the opp was still good enough to exploit your weak side
