Amazing to see, and so eye-opening as to what is possible with powders. I did not even consider this for a second, ever. I bought some cool colors from a different brand and but they came in loose powder and I don't use them often because opening their pots always creates a mess. So, yeah, will be looking to try this, thank you!!!

I was wondering what the point of selling loose eyeshadow or pigments is if they are only really useable if you press them yourself? I'm the same with my loose pigments but I always assumed there were ways to use them as they are, I just didn't know them. Apparently, however, everyone is having the same problem lol.

Wow! Thank you! Do you think it can transfer to the skin better if I add mineral oil? As I know it's doesn't require a preservatives adding
@Alicesbeautymadness5 жыл бұрын
Hi Mia, I have no experience with mineral oil. I prefer to use the silicone base as it is a mix specifically made for pressing cosmetics. I would try with a pigment that is not your favorite and experiment a bit. The least binder you put, the better!

Genius! I've played with de potting, repotting, mixing pressed powders using alcohol. Some were successful. Some weren't. Have a bunch of Makeup Geek loose shimmer pigments. Beautiful colors but difficult to use.
@Alicesbeautymadness4 жыл бұрын
aww thanks! I have pressed a few of the foiled pigments and they already contain lots of binder so they were easy to do just with alcohol. The glitters they did, sparklers I think they're called, those are a nightmare, i got rid of them all..

That was super useful thank you...I have decided 2019 will be the year I finally embark on an adventure to press my loose eyeshadows...it will be an adventure because I own exorbitant amounts! Did you steal that spatula from the lab?!? xD I would have too but our spatulas are so old it wasn't even worth it. Lethal sells spatulas though so I got one with my custom palette. That TKB kit is unfortunately out of stock and seems to have been for a while now. I am going to try fractionated coconut oil as binder...wish me luck!

ah so exciting! Good luck! I saw the kit is out of stock, too bad! Let us know how the fractionated coconut oil work! Yeah I stole my equipment from the lab hihihi..after 4 years of sweat and tears during my phd, I thought it was just fair hihihi

@@Alicesbeautymadness I will! Now trying to figure out where to get empty pans at a good price. Ah yes, I would add blood to the sweat and tears...it took me 6.5 years and no amount of spatulas would ever be enough to compensate for my mental traumas haha.

Your video is very helpfull, thank you! Can I use a glyceryn for a binder?
@Alicesbeautymadness4 жыл бұрын
Hi, I think some people do use it, but in terms of preservation and anti-bacterial effect, silicones are better! another binder is Isopropyl Myristate and that is also safer than glycerin for the long term.
@MissAnichka4 жыл бұрын
@@Alicesbeautymadness ok, then I will use isopropanol and isopropyl myristate, thanks :) Also do you know can I use phenoxyethanol instead isopropanol?
@Alicesbeautymadness4 жыл бұрын
Oh no phenoxyethalnol is not a good solvent for this. You want something that will evaporate without leaving anything behind. Methanol and ethanol are not safe for human inhalation so the next best thing is isopropanol

Hey, thank you for the tutorial. I’m curious if you have any other tips from experience since you made this video? I am making an order from TKB trading soon because I also want to press my loose pigments, so any updated tips/ideas would be really helpful
@Alicesbeautymadness4 жыл бұрын
Hi! I am still using the same technique now and you can see how the pigments perform in my Tammy tanuka swatch party. They are all still great! One new thing I learnt is to use less liquid binder for the multichrome pigments from them. I followed Martesmakeup's suggestion to use 2 drops of isopropyl myristate for a 1mL jar of those pigments.
@katia39145 жыл бұрын
It's a good idea, but do they risk to get really dry and hard to use with time?

I haven't had any problem with pigments I pressed with this method 2 years ago, so I don't expect any problems :)

Hi and thanks for making/sharing this video 😊 My question is- do you go back and scrape out the bags later? It looks like there is a bit of product left over..maybe I'm just trying to watch my pennies too much lol 😆 love your results though ❤
@Alicesbeautymadness3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I don't scrape the bags because the layer that is in there is really really thin and not much product remains. It looks like more because it is spread all over. it is definitely possible to scrape more off with a spatual though! If you only have a few shades to do, that would be feasible. I pressed so many at that time that I just couldn't be bothered. Oh and I never finished and eyeshadow in my life, maybe that's also why I'm not so concerned 😂
@linkinevelien5 жыл бұрын
Pressing eyeshadows by yourself is such a great idea! Especially when brands such as Tammy tanuka only offer pigments. I might try this process :). Do you know whether the pigment or intensity of the eyeshadows will remain the same when pressed? By this, I mean whether they become less pigmented after pressing, since alcohol and binder are added to the substance.
@Alicesbeautymadness5 жыл бұрын
In my experience the pigmentation remains really good for regular shimmer eyeshadows. The binder doesn't really dilute the pigment and the alcohol should evaporate completely. DO NOT use this process on their multichromes, I ruined one of mine trying :(

so what do i need to make my mac pigments into a pressed shadow? binder? mixing medium?
@Alicesbeautymadness4 жыл бұрын
Hi! MAC pigments already have binder in them, so you only need some alcohol to press them. They are quite easy and stay in the pan very well!
@rachelel90874 жыл бұрын
So these already come with preservatives in them, right? Basically any pigment that you buy (Tammy Tanuka, Sugarpill, etc) should have a preservative in it, and you don't need to add one, correct? Only if you're starting from scratch? Also, does this work for mattes?
@Alicesbeautymadness4 жыл бұрын
Yes in principle yes.. also I think the pressing medium from TKB has preservatives in it
