So I’m back offshore but while I was home, I attended every noon class I could! (3).. I’m super humbled and exited about being the weakest man in the room (technique) tho I’m by far the biggest!! Iv been having an issue with not being sure when my size is stopping my partner from learning.. I want to be a good partner and them want to do it with me again.. so it’s one of my biggest fears is being more of a problem for others let me know if you ever felt that way

I definitely have and still do but it’s mostly all unfounded. I’m definitely gonna do a video on this. We bring way more to the table than we realize and certainly more than we hold back. Your partners will struggle but they will learn the best from you.

I’m glad they are helpful! And thanks for the comments! I’ll never forget looking at myself in the rear view mirror before walking in for my first class. That was the hardest moment, opening the door. From there it’s been a whirlwind, one of the best things I’ve ever done. I still get nervous but just breathe and ask, “what’s next?”

I really need advise with this one. Even a small person once they get on top of me i cant handle the pressure.

From my coach: There are three things to think about when fighting the urge to tap to pressure: 1. Do I have my arms inside to frame the opponent. Learn the “prayer arms” frames for bottom mount. 2. Do you have a large belly? Large stomachs sit closer to the diaphragm and restrict it and your breathing when crushed in bottom mount. Attempt to curl onto your side or even going belly down. Better to make them earn a tap than to tap to pressure. 3. Are you claustrophobic? If so that is a journey you have to make on your own. Techniques can help, but that struggle is mental. On a final note, TAP. Try not to but don’t let it keep you off the mat. The more times you get here the more comfortable you will get.
