Yep, it's a contact sport. It's absolutely worth it as long as it doesn't affect your income (job)

Ive been doing jiu jitsu as a junior white belt with one strip for roughly 2 months. MOST likely you wont get injured, if you dont have a massive ego and try not to tap out. if it hurts, tap out. if you do that 99% there wont be a massive injury

Absolutely agree. It is a fine line of letting your partner actually work a sub through vs tapping too early but you’re right, ego just obliterates the line altogether. Thanks for the comment and stay safe!

@@bjjgiant yeah, my club is super nice however there’s this one kid with a gray belt, holy he has an ego, he won’t tap when he’s being choked, will stand up saying thy are doing technique wrong when they aren’t, he’s gunna get smashed

Oh that's a bummer :/ I've been "coached" through a sub by a few people after I get the upper hand on them but I haven't encountered anything like that yet. Yeah, either smashed or just won't last. I've found that if you keep giving rope to people that don't learn, eventually they will hang themselves - then MAYBE you'll finally gain a hearing. Keep at it brother!

35 sec in...YES, you will get injured lol Biggest takeaway. Know the difference between hurt and injured. if you're hurt, walk it off and stretch it out and get back on the mats, if you're injured grab an ice pack and sit out til you deicide if you need to get it checked out. Stiff joints and muscles worked you didnt know you had...look into yoga (honestly it helps with flexibility). It's rice crispies every morning, snap crackle pop just getting out of bed some days. But I wouldn't trade it for what I've gone thru in martial arts including BJJ

Comments like these make me wish I could edit my videos… YES you nailed it. There is a HUGE distinction between hurt and injured. I may need to discuss that in a different one. I really appreciate the feedback, super great point! Thanks!

As long as we take a week off every other month, it usually goes fairly well.

By fairly well I mean, my body is wrecked all the time but never broken XD

Haha 😂 yeah Mondays are usually rough getting going but the weekend recovery does work. I’ve gotten a few long weekends here and there by missing a couple fridays.
