Very helpful. Grab a piece of cardboard and push in your bolts (like you do with head bolts on a car) then put same bolt back in same hole... Your brass valve guides MUST go back with the same piston (all pistons on micrometer will vary in size.) Great vid and helpful detail👍

hey guys, can I do the replace of the seals with the pump still attached to the engine? thank you!, great video

When you reassembled the pump you installed the first set of seals Black, White & the Red last. The second and third sets of seals Black, Red and the White seal last. Does it make any difference? Anyway I liked the video and I think you did a good job.

+Gary Shaffer Yes it does matter what order they are installed, uou should set the seals in the same order they originally came out. Which would be the black one first, then red, then white on top.

You replaced the seals differently than the way they were taken out.

By the way mate, I just done a full repair on a ws202, I tried using your trick with the plyers and the cloth to no avail, I suggest using a " sliding hammer" worked very well and came out immediately despite being a very old pump. Hope this tip helped some what- thanks
@Spraywell
@Spraywell 8 жыл бұрын
a "sliding hammer" like one seen here: www.jnequipment.com/shop/brands/general-pump/100783-general-pump-packing-extraction-tool-kit/ is actually the BEST tool to use since it's very unlikely to cause damage. Most people don't have these tools around. You have the right idea tho.

What if you have a leak on an AR pump, put in all new kit but it still leaks? Put everything in properly, no scoring, no twisted seals etc...I hate to keep putting money into the pump and from what I understand if I take it apart again to inspect after running it I'll have to replace everything again and still risk having leak. The leak was just a drip every couple of seconds originally. After I put the kit in the drips didn't change. The AR pump is an RKV4G35. It is about 15 years old, probably has at most 200hours on it. The oil has been changed every year, no water in oil. Wondering if it would be more cost effective to put a new pump on. Thx for any input!

where is the drip coming from? Is it dripping between the brass head and body? or elsewhere? give me a little more info
@problemsolving7190
@problemsolving7190 8 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's between the head and the body. I cannot figure out which cylinder. Not sure if there is something particular other than swap out the internals and see if I can define which is the problem. I don't like the idea of putting more money into this pump if I cannot pin it down. In your opinion what is "the" pump. I change oil every year, don't let it run unless the gun or disc is on etc...basically have babied this machine over the last 15 years. GX390 is like new so if you think investing in pump is smart I'd consider it rather than dump more money into a pump that may have met the realistic service life.

Honestly if the pump is 15 years old. It would probably be a good investment to just pick up a new one. We have a large selection of pumps which would mount right to your GX390 under $300 which are high quality and contractor power. I would suggest the EZ4040, ZWD4040, or 66DX. You can see them all at www.jnequipment.com and search for the models mentioned above.

Is there a preference with the pump. I've had good luck with the AR pumps but if you have a logical reason to switch to a General or other I'd like to know what I'm missing. Do they all have a 5 yr warranty or with AR is the warranty a joke anyway? TY
@Spraywell
@Spraywell 8 жыл бұрын
All the pump companies have pretty similar warranty so that's a non issue. If you have had good experience with AR you might as well stick with it. They build pretty solid pumps. You can check out ALL the pump models and pump packages for AR over at www.arpumpsonline.com

no it just didn't build the right pressure. the seals not being installed in the correct order should not effect the engine at all.

All the power washers works in the same way so my question is those seals are different for each pump, model, brand or size or those seals are kind of universal for any pump?
@Spraywell
@Spraywell 8 жыл бұрын
+Mr E (channel) These seals will be different pump to pump and depending on brand and model. These seals fit around the plunger which can have different diameters. You will need to know your pump model in order to get the correct seals.

Nice job. On my washer I have an issue when I release the trigger on the sprayer it kills the engine immediately. Do you think it might be a stuck seal?

What was the symptom that you knew that this had to be done? My 4200 PSI pressure washer is only giving like 100 PSI when I pull the trigger and then goes back to 2000 psi . Never 4000. Will this fix that problem?
