Can a test cause leaks? Just did a test on my 4.6 ford and it seems to be coming from under the water pump but the weep hole is on top for some reason? Never saw a leak here prior to

Oh Another question how long does it take to have vehicle pressurerized..my vehicle plastic radiator goes below the line about every 2weeks ..have to refill with water..the mechanic says to stop it bc it refills on it own..we had a replacement of some sort bc car was running hot & wanted to look at while warranty..but ...so my question is..is the mechanic right..to let it go empty and leave it along????..the vehicle is 5yrs old & since we paid to fix it ..should the low water be an issue since doesn't see any leaks???

Anytime a clamp is this corroded, the hose has been leaking a few drops everytime system was at full pressure. That hose needs to removed from both ends and cordless drill with 1" wire wheel to scrub the salt crystals out of the rubber for the full distance it sits on radiator port. The port also scrubbed clean., do the same,on other end to water pump. For absolutely no leaks from hose again, smear 3M yellow trim adhesive fully set in area of hose scrubbed, and now remount with good clamps. Adhesive needs to be fully set but finger leaves impression in the glue. You'll see obvious corrosion where it connects to water pump when hose is removed. . If salt crystals are not removed from hose, doesnt matter how tight the clamp is, coolant will leak. Same with radiator cap, the rubber seal to tank and relief valve disc needs to be cleaned of any salt crystals. Now,do the same to all the hoses, and never have leak issues again, where one will end up blowing head gasket if not detected it low in time. Cheers

Hey there! I have coolant leaking near the reservoir location and the wheel liner is actually also getting wet. Do you think that the reservoir itself is bad?
@1AAuto2 ай бұрын
+@j.l.6985 We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c

I pressure checked an HHR. When I was done there was pressure still in both the heater hoses. Is this normal? Would the water pump pinch it off between there and the thermostat?

I have a 2001 Silverado 2500HD and it appears the coolant is coming from the rear of the engine. I was told that it was most likely a cooling system crossover line under the intake or at the rear for the engine under the intake. Is there such a line under the intake?

Thanks for sharing.. My question is how much pressure need to pump inside cooling system.. Is it same as stated at radiator cap.. i.e 1.1 bar.. Or slightly above 1.1 bar..?

+TT eLpiPi Thank you for your question! The pressure does vary by vehicle. You can check your owner's manual for your specific vehicle.

I did this test on my grand prix, it held 0 pressure what does that mean I know I have a leak. Does the coolant system need to be full of water/coolant be fore the test can be done correctly?

Look under the water pump for any coolent . There s a weep o hole that will drip when the pumps Goin out. So you will know the pumps going out

and if its on the water pump it might evaporate so look for stains also and around the radiator because it will evaporate on there too

Hi my car radiator reserve tank always has pressure even after it sits for a view days,but there is no sign of water inside the motoroil or loss of coolant.what could be the problem?
@Pinkielover Жыл бұрын
I have a coolant leak for the past four years still can't find it it's definitely in the engine compartment though because that's where I smell it maybe it's just coming from the overflow there is a little escape hole In the reserve overflow my coolant I rarely have to add any ... It's so minute but I definitely smell it unless of my nose is tricking me and I'm smelling something else Could it been possible That's some coolant in the past got in somewhere and evaporated and the residue stayed behind and it keeps getting wet or something I just don't know what to do... I have no visible signs of a leak underneath at all of little bit with an oil leak but that's because I need to do the Valve cover gasket The mechanic forgot to put a little bit of RTV silicone in certain key areas Over the timing chain cover You're supposed to actually put a little drop of sealant.. He never did it.. But yeah I can't find it it doesn't overheat it stays perfect temperature all the time even when it's 115 outside And just idling if it wasn't for the smell I wouldn't know anything

Im trying to help my sister. She has a 06 Kia Sorento and the coolant blew a pin hole in the reservoir. We replaced the reservoir with a new one. It blew another tiny hole into it. So we replaced it with a junkyard one. it blew hole in the upper radiator hose. We replaced the hose. Now i want to be on my A Game and fix this problem. I'm going to get a pressure tester and start from there. Fans are working, New coolant.. replaced the ECTS(engine coolant temperature sensor) too, due to a code. P0118. I appreciate any help, I will also look for an experience mechanic around my area.. I don't live in the city

When you say top it off, do you mean fill it up to the max line, or all the way to the top close to the cap?

To the max line. Fill it more and it throws the excess out.

Everyone shows you how to do a pressure test. Know one goes into details of how this is a valid test to pressurize the entire system when, doing this cold means the thermostat is closed and if im understanding things right, this means you are only testing half the system..

How can coolant leak past the thermometer if you're engine is cold?
@dawarmonky21222 жыл бұрын
Thermostats have tiny holes in them that way some coolant can flow through. Most the ones I've ever worked on do anyway.
