Once we had a peg clogged up by those tiny Mesalazin balls ( granules?) and every trick in the book didn't help to get it free again. A date was scheduled to take the peg out. One day before it I tried it with coca cola and...it didn't work. Then i thought, those balls are supposed to pass the acidic stomach and only dissolve in a more alkaline environment. We were a peripheral neurological ward and didn't have bicarbonate. But what we do have is Aciclovir, with a pH over 11. I flushed the tube with it and after an hour got it free. It was a very interesting experience.
