Is it like a name brand tape or just some clear masking tape?

Has this worked at all? Can you tell the difference if it’s taking the abuse?

I've done this before (this truck in the video isn't back on the road yet) and it works great, as long as the tape is where it needs to be it'll take the abuse instead of the paint. It won't last forever but you'll get a few years at a minimum, probably more. And it's practically invisible

Not sure why aftermarket don't use double sided glue tape to mount fender flares like car /truck manufacturer do with OEM flares......

My fender flares just messed up my paint but no worse so now before getting worse and worse I’ll put that tape before put the fender flares back and is cheaper than paid thousands in repaint your fenders.

I'm sorry to hear that. Did it wear all the way through the paint? I recently had to change the grille on my F250 and found out it had rubbed through the paint on the hood where it attaches, I went to a local parts store and wound up with an all in one touch up paint pen. Colour match paint in one end with a brush and pen tip, clear coat in the other, and an abrasive tip to scrape out rust and loose paint. Made by Dupli-Color. You can still tell that the paint was damaged if you look closely, but it's a lot better than it was, it might be worth a shot.

What fender flairs are these? I want to replicate your truck one day!

Honestly, they're just cheap garbage flares off amazon. I got them years ago and they didn't even fit right. You can get actually decent versions of these from Bushwacker
