I just had the same issue on Green Mountain Grill Daniel Boone. I woke up to check on my pork butt and grill was off. I noticed the pellets had funneled in the hopper leaving the edges, but when I looked in the grill the firebox was over loaded with pellets. I will try this and give an update on my next cook.

Thx man. I have the Harmon Accentra 52i for 7 years now. All of sudden my pellets are getting hung up on both sides of the hopper so In The mornings the stove is off. It’s been so frustrating. I’m def trying your method tmrw. Thx so much!

Kenneth Bergeron you’re welcome, I will say I’ve had to reapply it since that video posted. So you might have to take that into consideration, it seems that the pallets wear down on the wax over time. Good luck I hope you get good results, thank you for taking the time to comment.

You can get food grade PTFE spray from RS, I thought about spraying the pellet hopper, the Broil King paint is stippled which on the face of it is counter productive as it causes the pellets to hang up.

Why would it stop burning when there was a pile of pellets in the burn area, just because there are none in the hopper going in? You think it would stop burning when there were none in the burn area. Maybe it just turns off because it senses there are none coming through to the burn area.

What happens is they get stuck in the hopper and don’t slide down and if that last for a little while the system automatically shuts down because there’s none burning and then sometimes on the fan shaft off is just enough vibration for it to dislodge the pellets then they fall down feed into the burn pot after it’s cooled off.

Have you ever tried adding a coat of stove paint. Then adding the wax ?

@@shanesmaineshop I have the Exact stove you have.. I am going to try painting it and Waxing it tomorrow. I have the exact same issue. Oddly enough with just one type of pellet. I belive because they are Pine based and the Pich from them creates just enough friciton to stick to the sidese

I read you must use soft wood pellets because the hardwood pellets aren’t smooth enough for gravity feed, here on the east coast they sell softwood pine pellets as animal bedding

Is the wax flammable? Is it safe to put wax in the hopper?

I’ve had no issues with it, keep in mind the pallets are flammable and they go in the hopper. I would give it time to air out after it’s wax to make sure there’s no fumes however in my situation I’ve had no problems. If you’re concerned I would consult your owners manual.

I spray my hopper occasionally with dry graphite spray. Non flammable after it dries, lasts a long time, much less work than I’m seeing here.
