I have had this same stove for about 14 years, about 5 years ago I started getting crust or clinkers building up in the burn pot. Last night I decided to try a new method of cleaning. I picked up an extra hose for my shop vac, disconnected the stove from the wall and connected the suction hose on the vac to the exhaust on the stove and the other hose was connected to the exhaust on the vac and the outside air port on the stove. I ran the shop vac for 5-10 minutes lightly tapping the combustion fan to help loosen any buildup. I then swapped the hoses and repeated the same steps. Last night the stove was set a little higher than the previous night due to colder temperatures and instead of the crust building up (which I've had to scoop out every morning and evening) I only had a small amount of ash in the burn pot. I also only had the combustion fan set on 5. Hope this helps someone, I'm seeing a big difference already.

I had to bypass lid switch and then it worked correctly. I added an extended hopper to mine to get a longer run time because it ran out of pellets when I was at work. When I need to run it continuously I will shut it down and clean it out twice a day. I leave the settings where they are at and don’t mess with them.
@h7opolo2 жыл бұрын
11:00 wrong, the settings dictate the auger speed, thus, your house continually heats unless you govern the auger speed via a wired thermostat.

Thank you for the insight. I appreciate the clarification.

I use a dry paint brush to clean the door and inside walls of my stove and a metal paint scraper for inside the burn pot. Is your stove ignighter working properly? My stove.. I'll Toss in some pellets like yours and just press on and it's lit in under 5 min and upto temp in about 10-15 with the blower on

I have had to replace my igniter several times over the years. I will definitely try the paint brush. What a great idea thank you

Thanks for the video - my stove is 17 years old. How do you remove the dust etc out of the top narrow row of vents? No vacuum attachment I have is catching it - also my flame is going high then low like unit will turn off and doesn’t - going on for many hours / could it be door seal needing replacement or another problem? Would you let me know ? Thank you
@Momof4boys2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching the small vents above my door I have a small round brush like a bottle brush that I run in and out of each slit should I have the vacuum running in a slot near the one I'm cleaning, as the dust is loosened the air sucks it out. As for the flame, it sounds like your exhaust pipe to the outdoors is limiting the air or exhaust flow so your stove safety sensors may be getting confused. Twice a season I remove my exhaust tube outside and run a chimney brush through it with a drill. Then I vacuum it. I do the same from outside clear into the stove and vacuum it out. This keeps the proper airflow . Good luck and I hope this helps you with your stove

@@Momof4boys thanks so much for the thoughtful and helpful response ! I just had my rusted exterior pipe replaced two days ago after trying to find help for months. This exterior pipe needs to be accessed with a tall ladder, and the large interior exhaust pipe next to the stove inside is glued together and stuck in the wall and I can’t remove it. The pellet stove glass is black after running a few hours and the heat blows out within a foot and no more so I need someone to help me and take apart the stove. I’m alone here in the woods now kids gone and I’m thinking should I just buy a new unit from a business that can service it when needed …

I think a stiff brush attachment for the vacuum would make this way easier.
