The colorning are leds that got to hot and burned. It still gives light, but yellow tint. It can happend on hot sunny days.

This also happens to Megane IV's. The auto does almost nothing to help this. Auto basically means the car will more consistently switch lights on which reduces voltage to the LEDs. This is a design flaw that should trigger a recall/free replacement and certainly not the $2-4k bill... otherwise it's blatant planned obsolescence. There is a way on Megane to modify the voltage sent to the DRLs such that even in daylight they will last longer. but they will still fail eventually.

What logic between putting it on auto and off position?

It is a very stupid design flaw from Audi. They did not consider the heat dissipation that the led strip gives off. So now over time they burn the tubes inside of the light fitting and slowly turn yellow. You can pull them apart and cut off the burnt piece on the top strip and that will fix it but not on the bottom because it is not accessible

Highly feel like it was intentional worst on the S3 RS3 because they got two modules one is easily accessible the other you have to completely disassemble the headlights to get to it, which is rather stupid. And what’s worse is other than the LED buring out is the plastic optic getting burnt as well whereas they could’ve put a piece of glass starting for a good bit then the rest of the tubing be plastic that would have solved at least one problem.

We’ve been using Audi A6 2012 late model from mid 2013 and Audi Q7 2017 from mid 2017. DRLs atarted fading off in A6 in mid 2018s while Q7 started fading early 2021. We’ve been using the auto lights function all the time; however, this seems to happen in all European cars regardless. Do let us know if there is an option to repair the DRLs.

Yes, Sometimes it can happen even with auto lights function after about 4~5 years time. DRLs are impossible to repair if its come with one unit with headlights. One possible way is turning DRL permanently off, It can be done using a professional scanner. But then need a scanner to turn them on again.

The 8V facelift A3 , S3 , RS3 really have this DRL issue, at some point I thought you are right, but if Audi is dumb enough not to consider the voltage when it is set to off, why this not happened in pre-facelift version ? many 13, 14 pre-facelift version are still doing good ..
@homeautos2 жыл бұрын
I think that is because they used to have individual LED bulbs in the previous models and now they use LED tube.. so when there is a power drop of one place it would effect the whole tube🤔

In Germany it must be turned on and you can't turn it off. In Off position the DRL are still on.

Bullshit. I own this car and the DLR are on or off. There is absolutely no state between whatever the position of the light switch. My right DRL(lower part) failled after 8 years and 160 000km. In 🇨🇭 it is mandatory to have your DRL on during the day.
