Thanks I am glad this helps, it is a problem that some people have encountered. It is pretty easy to do. Some people will also use Velcro strips (with an adhesive backing). It works, but leaves a stick residue on the comforter and duvet.

I found it interesting that the silk duvet and cover we bought while visiting China was NO PROBLEM. The duvet had loops in the corners already sort of like a button loop and sure enough inside the cover were the ties to secure the duvet in place. Come on guys -- we all know the problem so how come we are having to remedy it? The manufactures should know what is needed.

Thanks for the answer Carlie. This is correct, the ties are attached/sewn to both the comforter or duvet cover, however, they are independent of each other. They become adjoined when you tie them in a bow, but can be easily separated for washing.

Thank you for this video. I have always been puzzled how to do this. Only suggestion I was given was to sew the corners & it seemed to defeat the purpose of being able to easily remove the cover to throw in the wash. I just want to add, that I did see the other improved video, but actually liked this much better. It's just a big help to actually see you doing it versus seeing photos of where to sew this or that. Again, thank you. I almost look forward to winter when I can put my quilts or comforters in a duvet cover. :)

Thanks for the question, I am limited to the number of characters I can respond with - so I am posting multiple responses. I am not 100% sure I understand your question - but assuming that you are talking about a possible gap that one could get in the middle of the top edge (that being the edge closest to your face) - yes... However - be careful not to sew into the comforter itself (sew on the edge) as down can escape from the small holes that you create with the needle & thread.

Steve, could this technique be applied to various points along the top and sides of the comforter as well, to get even less slipping? On a king size comforter and duvet, the corners may still be in the correct position while the comforter in the middle of the top sags down. If you could also do this at the middle of the top, it would prevent slipping even better, right?

So helpful; thank you! Did you add a loop to all four corners of the down comforter, or just the top two?
@Verolinens
@Verolinens 7 жыл бұрын
Glad we could help. Again, this is an old video there is a newer one. Regardless, you don't need to sew straps at the foot of the duvet cover, as they don't fall up so to speak. You might consider sewing ties on all 4 corners of the down comforter. It is recommend that you turn the comforter 180 degrees every once in a while (they wear out in the shoulder area, turning them will add more life to it). Be sure to view some of our other bedding tips at www.verolinens.com/how-to-tips/.
@Verolinens
@Verolinens 11 жыл бұрын
These holes can become larger as tension is applied to this area when attempt to pull it up. One doesn’t typically need to attach the comforter to the duvet cover on the sides or the foot area as this is not wear the comforter moves or shifts. Comforters slide down (toward the foot of the bed) as gravity pulls them down at the overhang or the foot of the bed, as well, once a gap occurs between the comforter and the duvet (at the head of the bed).
@Verolinens
@Verolinens 10 жыл бұрын
Many manufacturers do not put them in due to the cost associated with doing so. In addition slippage is not an issue that all encounter. I suppose it boils down to economics. Thanks for the comment and viewing our video.

I also use large strong nappy safety pins. Not cheap bendable. I start at top seams and join the hem of cover carefully through the doona or quilt. Weaving needle in and out to prevent stress. Better on quilt right under seam stitching. Work around sides and bottom as much points as you like

Thank you-Do you secure all four corners in this manner?
@stevec8920
@stevec8920 9 жыл бұрын
Tracy, it is not necessary to secure all 4 corners. Down comforters don't slide up, they slip down. So securing the comforter to the top of the duvet cover will do the trick. However, if you ever decide to flip the comforter from top to bottom, you may want to consider putting ties at the other end (foot) of the down comforter. It is not necessary to sew ties at the foot of the duvet cover. I hope this helps, let me know if you have additional questions - Steve, Vero Linens.

I used to have the same problems, duvets are so hard to get in the duvet cover alone especially on bigger beds! And it moves around all over the place. I found a company called Du-Zipp, problem solved. It is a system with the duvet and the duvet cover working together using zippers half the zipper on the duvet the other half on the cover you lay the cover inside out put the duvet on top zip the zippers together and flip it the right way out. Pull the four corners to straighten it and the duvet stays in place until it is time to wash your cover no more fussing! I absolutely love my Du-Zipp!

Sure, take 8 safety pins and pin the comforters together at the (4) corners & in the center of each of the comforters edges. Now here is the important part - you need to pin them on the cording or any fabric that is outside of the area where the down is contained. If you pin them on fabric where the down resides, over time, the pins will begin to create a larger hole in the fabric & your down will begin to escape. Call or email me if you have additional questions - verolinens (dot) com

Safety pins are not the best way to do this, take a look at a newer version of this fix found here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2axknedbduIb68

Down has a way of escaping from virtually any comforter. However, it should not be excessive. Look for holes in the comforter this may be the casue, if you have one or more sew them up. The shell or ticking should be at least a 300 thread count. A tight weave on the shell helps minimize down from escaping. It may be time to replace it. Here is a video that shows how to tell if it is time to replace one kzbin.info/www/bejne/iF6QhmilYtmgpqM . They do wear out. I hope this helps.

They sell them already made like this on amazon, I got one and it still was moving around inside, it annoyed me lol I just leave my duvet the way it is and cover it with throw blankets and pillows

Our down comforters have straps and we have began putting them in our duvet covers. We haven't had an issue with it. Thanks for watching.

but what happens when you need to change the cover?

You untie it and take the duvet out. The stitches don't make the two pieces permanent attached.

Why haven't companies added this to their duvets in the first place? Seems like a no brainer :-)

Some do, some don't. We do, but for many it isn't that much of a problem.

Heh! I use a chainsaw myself. I just wave it at the duvet, and the duvet and comforter obey! Or else.
