Carla, have you noticed if anyone has been deterred from a piece because it was on a panel instead of a traditional canvas, perhaps due to the heavier weight, or any other reason? Does it affect your pricing or the perceived value of the piece? I’m likely waaaaaay overthinking things…. your advice is highly valued.

Nope no issues with panel. If anything it’s one of the most traditional surfaces to paint on 😊 it just needs to be properly prepared

i like the square inch model. i just make sure my square inch rate covers those other factors, so i can stay simple and consistent. then i offer a framed and unframed option so i just add the cost of the frame

Hourly working on a art work and pricing is most unreasonable. Art is not a labour work to measure in such method. Art is a rare skill and GODs gift. An Artist is to be honoured differently.

I agree totally. Sometimes it’s really hard for artists to find a consistent way of figuring out their pricing at the start, working it out by hours is just one way to get an idea about value. There are many more ways though, if you have any suggestions please feel free to add them here 😊
